Your responsibilities as a Mechanical Designer include:

• Submit drawings to upper management and project teams
• Finalize designs and send prints to the production workshops
• Verify all design factors including performance, tolerances, fitting, materials, surface finish and BOM for components and systems
• Sketch and draw up designs using input from engineers and system architect on the team
• Perform complex interference fit checks, motion studies, and tolerance stack-up analysis on assemblies using SolidWorks software
• Prepare calculations on the proposed device or subassembly before completing technical drawings
• Provide support during the prototyping and installation process, ensuring that the device is built properly and according to design specifications

Qualifications for the Mechanical Designer:

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Must be proficient in SolidWorks
• Strong computer and mathematical skills
• 5+ years of experience in engineering role
• Working knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, welding, coating, customer gasket, and other trades
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Must have experience designing industry or consumer-specific products (food or kitchen equipment is an asset)
• Shop floor experience in customer fabrication
