About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Vice-President of Cenovus's Project Management Office, the Senior Manager, Project Delivery’s role is to lead the organization's largest, highest-profile and transformational projects and programs.

This role will be accountable to achieve the following outcomes:

• Partner with CPMO colleagues and the other enabling functions to ensure projects are being delivered in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines, within scope and budget.
• Define project scope, objectives and results that support the business goals in collaboration with clients, teams and customers.
• Track project achievements and results, ensuring corrective action is taken, when vital, to improve project performance.
• Plan and schedule project timelines, workflow and achievements using the Cenovus Project Management Office (CPMO) Delivery Execution Framework, tools and processes.
• Assist with the development and continuous improvement of CPMO processes and capabilities
• Guide the work and performance of Project Managers assigned to projects in their scope.

This is an office-based position based at our office in downtown, Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities:

• Handle changes to the project/program scope, project/program schedule and project/program costs using appropriate verification techniques
• Lead all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the project/program team direct and indirect reports to ensure project/program results are completed accurately, on time and to the required quality assurance standards
• Delegate project/program tasks based on staff members’ individual strengths, abilities and experience levels
• Identify, document, track and communicate project/program risks/issues, and assist in resolution or mitigation
• Drive a high-performing team and support an employee-engaged culture
• Perform effective risk management to resolve issues/conflicts that may arise within the project/program team
• Set and continually lead project/program expectations with team members and other partners, ensuring adherence to the project/program timeline
• Track project/program performance, to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
• Identify, report and resolve workplace or interpersonal barriers that may affect the team and its performance
• Liaise with project/program team members on an ongoing basis through formal and informal channels

Qualifications:

• Experience with the Cenovus leadership and culture would be highly beneficial
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15+ years of demonstrated working experience in complex project and program management with 5+ years of management experience and ideally 3+ years of oil and gas experience.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
