In their efforts to acquire industrial technology and software companies, Valsoft is looking for a talented, versatile, and passionate person to lead the fact-finding due-diligence mission of our M&A target companies.
Reporting to one of our Investment Partners (IPs), the Sr Mergers & Acquisition Analyst will work in an extremely entrepreneurial environment joining the rest of our M&A team in our Montreal 🇨🇦 office. They will carry out a thorough investigation of target companies, with the ultimate goal of deciding if capital deployment and investment is the right move.

With the potential to, in time, grow into a full-cycle M&A professional with salesmanship and charisma for business development activities, while leveraging your analytical and financial due diligence expertise.

As an M&A Analyst, you will:
[Day to day responsibilities]
- Perform financial analysis and modelling to evaluate deal structures and projected performance of early-stage investment opportunities
- Conduct thorough due diligence assessments on target companies by analyzing complex data sets to identify crucial financial and business information
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices by researching and understanding target markets and economics factors
- Conduct market and industry research to identify trends and risks
- Provide execution support to deal leads through acquisition process by collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing due diligence findings
Other ad hoc duties:
- Support deal negotiations and post-merger integration planning
You will be set up for success if you have:
[Skills & Requirements]
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Intermediate/Advanced financial modelling skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in either Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or another quantitative field
- 2-5 years of experience in a similar role like Investment Banking, Private Equity, M&A or Corporate Development
- Demonstrated experience of business analysis (case studies or online articles a bonus)

- Fluent in additional languages (German, French, Dutch, Spanish)
- CFA or CIIA
- Familiarity with a buy and build model and VMS or software experience/knowledge
