Senior Law Clerk - Ottawa, On

Our private-sector client is seeking a Senior Corporate Law Clerk to join their Business Law Department team. The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of legal experience as a Corporate Law Clerk/Paralegal in Ontario and is knowledgeable of current relevant legislation and government regulations.

About the role

The successful candidate will:

• Train and mentor junior associates, law clerks and students within the Corporate Department
• Often act as the front-line liaison with the client for corporate matters connected to their file
• Ability to work well in a team environment, employ good communication and social skills
• Evaluate files to review facts, determine appropriate processes and plans the steps necessary for the conduct of the file, ensuring critical deadlines are identified and met
• Independently draft a variety of documentation, such as articles of incorporation and amendments, articles of amalgamation, minute book reviews and rectifications, to meet the steps required throughout the conduct of the file in accordance with legislation and/or governing regulations

About you

• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Accurately analyze and produce high-quality and quantity of legal documents or work products, occasionally under tight timelines
• 10+ years of legal experience as a Law Clerk/Paralegal in the Province of Ontario
• Able to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients' needs in a professional and courteous manner
• Aptitude to coach and mentor junior associates, law clerks and students
• In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
• Experience with Athennian or similar corporate databases such as EnAct, GlobalAct, or ALF is an asset
• Knowledgable of current relevant legislation and government regulations
