Senior Data Engineer Jobs

On behalf of our client, Procom is currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a five (5) month engagement based in Burnaby, British Columbia. This client is pleased to offer a remote work model for this role.

Senior Data Engineer Job Details

• Collaborate closely with internal teams, including the Registry and Data Science teams, to gather requirements and implement system enhancements.
• Develop and deploy a natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) cancer detection and coding system.
• Create comprehensive documentation to support the system, including technical specifications, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
• Deploy machine learning models in production environments using appropriate frameworks and tools.
• Utilize the system to identify cancer cases and extract/codify key cancer data from HL7 diagnostic reports.
• Test and evaluate the performance of the system, ensuring its accuracy and reliability.
• Assist in the design and implementation of the NLP/ML cancer detection and coding system, ensuring scalability and maintainability.

Senior Data Engineer Mandatory Skills

• Hands on experience with hugging face & Pytorch.
• Familiarity with GPU computing and other specialized hardware commonly used in machine learning.
• Experience with database management systems, such as SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with deploying and managing machine learning models in production environments.
• Experience in data engineering, including data integration, processing, and manipulation.
• Familiarity with Python DS stack, such as Pandas, NumPy, etc.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing machine learning algorithms and data processing.
• Expertise in Python and machine learning libraries.
• Pipeline development for NLP/ML models.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• SQL: Hands-on experience with table schema design.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
• Work experience of developing modularized code (Python).
• Work experience of building full-functional REST API backed by machine learning models.

Senior Data Engineer Nice-To-Have Skills

• Understanding of scientific operations such as Softmax.
• Experience working in a Canadian health care authority.
• Understanding of NLI and quality assurance/testing.

Senior Data Engineer Assignment Length

Five (5) month contract with the potential for two (2) extensions of six (6) months each.
