Servus offers a flexible hybrid work model which consists of a combination of working in the office and working remotely.

Servus Credit Union is Alberta's largest credit union and is ranked #1 in Canada on Forbes’ World’s Best Banks list for 2022! Driven by cooperative values, one might even say we're member-obsessed – because helping our members feel good about their money through improved financial fitness builds better lives and stronger, more resilient communities.

Propelled by our aspirational values of being smart, gutsy and driven, Servus is growing, enhancing member and employee experience and shifting to a culture where we can easily deliver our best.

We're looking for top talent to join the team as a Senior Compensation Specialist who can hit the ground running!

As the Senior Compensation Specialist, your focus is two fold: you ensure our #1 assets (our employees) are compensated competitively and fairly while articulating the story behind the data that supports workforce planning. You are an expert partner in Talent Management who thrives in a fast paced, high energy, detail orientated environment. In addition to all of that, you are an excel guru!

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Planning, developing, and coordinating the implementation of large-scale job structure and market assessments; leading and guiding the implementation of job restructuring programs and other strategic compensation projects that impact broadly on key operating facets
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to the People and Culture department and leaders on day-to-day compensation issues, policy interpretation, and providing creative problem resolution
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommending cost-effective changes consistent with compensation trends and the organization’s objectives
  • Providing integrated advice and consultation on strategic compensation management, organization and job design, and broader human resources challenges
  • Consulting with leaders regarding requests for new or revised job classifications; evaluating needs based on organizational and market factors, and creating and situating classifications, assessing appropriate pay grades using job evaluation methodology and market indicators
  • Providing expertise in organizational design by collaborating on the framework and developing organizational structures and jobs to allow Servus to achieve its strategic objectives
  • Overseeing the development, implementation and administration of the compensation and classification framework, including policy development, and the Servus Incentive Pay Program (SIPP)

Requirements

To qualify, you'll need at least the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of compensation management principles and practices
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex human resource issues
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, HRIS systems, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in compensation analysis and design
  • Advanced analysis and synthesis skills related to total compensation/rewards research
  • Ability to analyze and interpret strategic compensation issues within the broader human resources context, and to provide integrated solutions

Although not required, the following are considered to be an asset:

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation

Most importantly, we're looking for candidates who align with our values. We live our values in how we do business. We're not afraid to be different – in fact, we embrace our differences. We have a spirit that motivates us to give our best service to members every day. It's our values that attract many people to Servus – and keep them with us. We embrace our culture and heritage, and we pride ourselves on our strong commitment to the communities we serve and our efforts to build and maintain member loyalty. If this sounds like you, then we encourage you to apply!
