What’s the ask?
The Senior Benefits Specialist will be responsible for providing service and analytics excellence to our mid/large size national group benefit clients.
More specifically, the Senior Benefits Specialist will:
- Be accountable for the smooth transition of benefits to new carriers ensuring any client risk and exposure is mitigated (i.e. plan mapping, member coverage, communication);
- Coordinate carrier finalist presentations;
- Assess, negotiate, write reports and prepare presentations relating to group renewals;
- Assessment, negotiation and report/presentation preparation for marketing and peer review of quote comparisons;
- Analyze carrier financial reports & peer review of estimated financials;
- Perform commission reconciliations and analysis;
- Assist on specific projects, initiatives and research;
- Peer review contract, booklet and collective agreement differences and identify risk exposure;
- Price and analyze costings including assessment and analysis of alternative funding arrangements;
- Schedule appointments, monitor email, voicemail, prepare letters, spreadsheets, maintain filing and perform other administrative duties as required.
- Resolve and address escalated client issues and inquires;
- Analyze carrier change financial/rate implications to client's budget;
- Provide and coordinate support for Consultant as requested and in accordance with procedures and service agreements;
- Review, prepare & peer review analysis of regular reporting, benefit summaries, process amendments and employee presentations/communications;
What does it take?
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the Group Benefits industry which includes Client Service and Analytical;
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;
- GBA, CEBS designation preferred or working towards;
- This position is subject to appropriate background checks that may include credential, employment, credit, criminal and reference checks.
- Strong prioritization skills and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Bilingual an asset;
- Maintenance of valid driver’s licence, as periodic travel maybe required.
- Completion of University Degree or College Diploma;
- Able to work independently and self-motivated;
- Knowledge of EPIC an asset;
- Analytical and numerical skills;
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Word.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
