This incumbent will be part of the Reinsurance Center of Excellence and will report to the Accounting Director who is based in our Boston Back Bay office. This role will be responsible for leading reinsurance treaty and legal entity analysis. This will involve analysis of reinsurance results, presenting analytical findings, reviewing, and implementing new reinsurance treaties and ensuring consistent and accurate implementation of reinsurance calculations and accounting models across US operations. This role will also participate in special projects related to the implementation of new accounting standards, operational initiatives, or treaty agreements. These projects will involve collaboration with Global Finance, IT and Actuarial teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvement of the reinsurance accounting cycle to shorten close cycles, improve controls and expand understanding
  • Define and evaluate new reinsurance treaty accounting models and calculation methodologies
  • Participate in special projects related to the implementation of new accounting standards, operational initiatives, or treaty agreements
  • Present reinsurance financial results to management on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare reinsurance settlements and analytical reporting for internal and external treaties, including Global Reinsurance treaties across multiple accounting bases (IFRS, NAIC, Tax and Bermuda Statutory)

What We Are Looking For
  • Curiosity and a commitment to understand complex financial transactions is essential.
  • Dedicated to continual process improvement with strong internal controls and ability to adapt well to change.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Finance or Accounting degree and a minimum of 4 or more years’ post-graduate experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Essbase is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and reinsurance is an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must be a great teammate and a self-starter.
  • Must be well-organized, innovative, and possess a high level of initiative.

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
CAN, Ontario, Toronto, 200 Bloor Street East
Salary range is expected to be between
$68,775.00 CAD - $114,625.00 CAD
