Senior Accountant /Bookkeeper Jobs

We are seeking a full time Accountant/Bookkeeper for a growing mid-sized public accounting firm.

Requirements include skills to provide write-up services on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis to a variety of firm clients as needed.

This includes recording all banking transactions, creating the trial balance as well as all required closing and adjustment journal entries (and financial statements).

Preparing corporate and personal tax returns and strong Excel skills.

Salary starting at $60k

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities of this position:

• Must be able to complete an entire file from input of trial balance to preparation of corporate tax return.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes
• Identify process improvements and system efficiencies for current and potential new clients.
• You will confidently and competently assist in the completion of full cycle bookkeeping
• Full cycle bookkeeping duties for a block of client accounts.
• Frequent communication with clients, responding to questions, concerns, and requests.
• T5, T4 preparation
• In depth knowledge and experience working with desktop software such as QuickBooks Desktop/ Online and Casewear
• Duties include compilation, corporate tax, payroll and HST, etc.
• Preparation of bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax filings. (HST, WSIB, T4, installments)
• Prepare and process payroll online software.
• Preparation of year-end packages for accountants, i.e. preparing a trial balance, adjusting entries, and reconciling accounts.
• Proficient with CaseWare, Excel, Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, etc.
• Qualifications/Work Experience:
• Maintain and reconcile GL accounts, bank reconciliations, accrued liabilities, and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
• Identify errors and issues, investigate discrepancies, discuss with supervisor to develop resolutions (IDS)
• Experience in preparing business and individual tax returns
• Communicate with governments regarding information, requests, assessments and installments
• Occasional meetings with clients to review statements, any questions and troubleshoot any issues.
• Work with external accountants to complete year-end files (T1’s and/or T2’s
• Work collaboratively with and maintain relationships with team members and customers
• You will be expected to file government remittances and fillings which can include and not be limited to provincial and federal agencies along with WSIB, pay roll remittances, GST/HST and other filings as required
• Knowledge on real estate related transactions is an asset.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Onboarding new clients, setting up new Accounting Software files and/or taking over of previous books.
• Proficient in financial statement preparation, personal and corporate tax preparation, Profile, word and excel
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with team members
