Position Summary:
Located at our Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC location. Reporting to the Director of Sales, and working alongside the General Sales Manager, the Sales Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Sales Team processes.Sales managers need to be comfortable managing multiple departments and people. Managers are required to maintain the profitability of their department while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction. Managers are required to not only understand and keep abreast of the federal, provincial, and local regulations that affect their operations but must also comply with these regulations.Management personnel require strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees, and vendors, as they represent the dealership.
Responsibilities:
- Hiring and monitoring the performance of the sales team.
- Must ensure that traded vehicles are serviced, cleaned, and returned to stock and that the lot is neat and presentable and appropriately displays the inventory.
- Must be able to take measures to compensate for the unexpected.
- Appraise and evaluate the retail potential of vehicles, which requires being attuned to the resale market both in the area and nationally.
- Responsible for training, developing, and motivating sales team members and serves as a role model.
- Duties may be changed from time to time.
- Oversee the activity of the Business Office to ensure that the new vehicle after-market profits are maximized and that all items sold are properly disclosed to the customer.
- Accurately plan and forecast sales, developing annual sales goals for the dealership as part of an annual business plan, and constantly monitoring the dealership’s sales in relation to the plan.
- Must establish the dealership’s image in marketing and must ensure that sales team members consistently live up to that image with distinctive, proactive customer responsiveness.
- Perform appraisals on vehicle trade-ins as necessary.
- Maintain a daily customer log such that we may track prospects, lost sales, customer follow-up, and the effectiveness of the sales force.
- Helps to complete sales, balancing the needs of customers, Sales Consultants, and the dealership.
- Meet with the sales team to plan and implement objectives for achieving sales and gross profits.
- Ensure all documentation is thoroughly completed, duly signed, and legally binding.
- Review daily sales performance with the individual sales consultants utilizing coaching metrics from our CRM.
- Must know all the variables that will affect the business plan, including supply, demand, profit, competition, promotion, pricing, manufacturing issues, insurance rates, and finance rates.
- Maintain and control appraisal procedures in a fair and equitable manner that is consistent with dealership policy and in line with competitive practices.
- Effectively manage the daily sales flow, appointments, and pipeline.
- Must be capable of working independently, effectively managing their time and workflow.
- Be a champion for the department, always delivering excellent service.
- Update and manage customer appointments/visits using omnichannel platforms such as Roadster and VinSolutions.
- Must be detail-oriented, charting individual sales, establishing individual sales goals and dealership bonus plans, and constantly monitoring dealership sales against the business plan.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills including listening and the ability to impact and influence others.
- Excellent verbal communication.
- Organized and attentive to detail with the ability to document customer needs.
- Results orientated and accountable.
- Previous automotive sales experience; minimum 1-year management experience.
- College diploma/certificate; bachelor's degree an asset.
- Holds a valid driver’s license and OMVIC license.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an upbeat and engaging attitude.
- Flexible and open to change; take on special tasks as needed.
- Ability to manage customer complaints and solve difficult problems.
- Basic computer skills. Knowledge of CDK and CRM is an asset.
