Job Title:Assistant Manager, Nutrition & Food Services
Department: Food Services (Osler) (Facilities Services)
Immediate Supervisor:Manager, Nutrition & Food Services
Nature and Scope
- Responsible for effective management, coordination, and control of patient food and retail food services delivery in a Healthcare environment.
·Management of all phases of operational planning and expenditures, inventory management, procurement and budgeting, costing and financial reporting.
- Implementation plans for initiatives, process improvement efficiencies, change management, develop and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for the effective management of all union staff members within the department
- Management of patient food services, diet office including supervisors, diet technicians and diet clerks.
- Execution and management of the contractual plan and service level agreement.
- Liaise with Registered Dieticians, and Clinical Directors to build and establish effective working relationships.
- Ensure the facility is in compliance with all Hospital, EllisDon Facilities Services and legislative policies, safety regulations and continuous quality improvement.
- Management of payroll and other administrative systems.
- Ensures Accreditation Canada standards, Required Operational Practices (ROPs) are met.
- Evaluations and performance management of direct reports, management and unionized staff.
- Maintains compliance with Public Health standards and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Implementation and management of departmental policies, procedures and training protocols.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 5-10 years’ experience in food services management, preferably in a Health Care setting.
·Extensive knowledge of therapeutic, nutrition and dietetic principles, and menu planning.
- Knowledge of cook-chill/cold food plating/retherm operations.
·Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, problem solving, and conflict and management resolution skills.
- Experience managing in a unionized environment and knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and a strong commitment to team environment.
·Proficient in computer skills, particularly Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
·Knowledge of Computrition Hospitality Suite.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education & Practice and/or Food Service Administration.
- Registered Dietitian of the College of Dietitians of Ontario or equivalent.
- Membership with Dietitians of Canada.
Effort
- Work requires moderate physical exertion, limited visual and/or auditory concentration, manual dexterity and/or strain.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, severely adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely.
