Preconstruction Manager


The Preconstruction Manager is responsible for leading the project turnover from Estimating to Operations and for ensuring that the Project Budgets are developed from the estimate and information is delivered to the project staff in a timely manner.


How will you contribute to the team?


To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:


  • Leads the timely buyout of subcontractor work packages and major suppliers for projects as assigned, develops, and confirms work package scopes for the subcontractors.
  • Assists the Project Manager and the Site Supervisor in providing strategic and tactical planning of projects. This involves a complete evaluation of the risks and opportunities the successful tender presents.
  • Monitors the progress of jobs ensuring that costs are trending as per budget and that schedules are tracking as they should.
  • Participates in identifying areas of success and areas of opportunity from the Preconstruction Department's perspective.
  • Manages the purchasing for the Projects.
  • Leads design coordination for design-build projects.
  • Works with the project team to develop the project work plan.
  • Leads the turnover of new projects from Estimating to Project Management and Field Operations.
  • Assists with the development of the project budget verifies the budget to provide the best information to measure and track the progress of the work, and identifies opportunities and liabilities in the Project budget.
  • Assist Operations in managing sub-trade relationships, ensuring that contractual issues are dealt with effectively. Ensure that relationships with key sub-trades are developed and fostered.
Education and Experience:


  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required.
  • Tech., P.Eng., or CET Designation
  • Either hold or are eligible for your Gold Seal certification
