Overview:

The Grocery Department Manager, under the direction of the Store Manager, is primarily responsible for operating the day-to-day functions within Grocery, Cheese, Dairy, and Bulk. The Grocery Department Manager is also responsible for cultivating an excellent environment for all team members within the Grocery Department.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure appropriate levels of inventory are maintained
• Additional duties as assigned
• Model excellent customer service
• Drive team member engagement
• Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
• Thoroughly maintain team member records
• Schedule employees
• Orderings, receiving, price changes, handling damaged products, and returns
• Maintaining safety and food quality standards
• Collaborating with other team members to ensure that the store achieves it’s financial target
• Ensure that all health, safety, and security regulations are adhered to and required standards are met
• Participates and/or leads recruitment within the department
• Merchandising to augment customer engagement and drive sales
• Assist in rolling out new policies and ensure team members are compliant
• Executes performance management conversations with team members within the department
• Product knowledge and ability to increase basket size
• Overall care for team members safety and their well-being
• Training on company standards and procedures
• Ensure timesheets are approved for payroll processing on time

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

To demonstrate full competence in this position an incumbent typically requires:

• 3-5 years of management experience
• Experience in maintaining operational excellence in retail stores (payroll, shrink and inventory management, etc)
• Experience working in a grocery retailer

Knowledge

• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite
• Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including conflict resolution, and people management
• Basic office administration skills required

Working Conditions

• Interaction with customers/clients, and the public at large

Travel:

• Occasionally travel to other store locations to support operations or for meetings
