Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Child & Youth Acute Care, the Project Manager, will provide overall project leadership and expertise to the Emergency Department Access and Flow Initiatives within our specialized Paediatric Emergency at McMaster Children’s Hospital. The Project Manager will work collaboratively with clinical managers and team to advance innovation, quality improvement, and Emergency Department Access and Flow within our Pediatric Emergency Department.


Education And Work Experience


  • Advanced capability in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics or related field required; Master’s degree in related field preferred; and/or equivalent related work experience
  • 3-5 years project leadership experience with large, complex change projects; formal project management training preferred
  • Experience in and/or experience supporting clinical operations required
  • 3-5 years related work experience, such as experience leading quality improvement initiatives, and/or experience leading the collection and collation of data, in a health care sector or academic institution
  • LEAN, Six Sigma or CQI process improvements training considered an asset
  • 3-5 years’ experience engaging and partnering with various competing stakeholder groups

  • Proven ability to influence and lead others, project teams, and stakeholder groups
  • Experience developing, executing and monitoring a fulsome evaluation strategy
  • Proven process design ability
  • High level of critical thinking skills and effective stakeholder engagement to gain necessary buy-in for project success
  • Strong results orientation and enthusiastic energy; must be able to thrive in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to synthesize data to inform improvement opportunities
  • Ability to work with little supervision; organize and establish priorities within multiple projects and tasks, demonstrated ability to meet project and task deadlines and adjust quickly to changing requirements
  • Sound consulting, facilitation and advisory skills

Unit Summary


The McMaster University Medical Centre site of Hamilton Health Sciences is home to McMaster Children's Hospital. As of April 04, 2011, a specialized Paediatric Emergency Department provides care for infants, children and youth 17 years of age and under. Our dedicated team of health professionals provides family centered emergency care that embraces teaching, research and health promotion.


Schedule Work Hours


Monday to Friday; days.


This position is temporary for one year.
