What We Need


The NP will work within the legislated scope of practice including responsibilities in all four core competencies. The NP will provide direct patient care, consultation and education to patients and families in the ED, will work in collaboration with medical and nursing staff, provide education, consultation to nursing staff, and, engage in research as appropriate. Specific practice responsibilities will be determined based on operational needs.


What You Bring To The Role


  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Current membership with the RNAO and the NPAO is an asset
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and willingness to pivot to support patient care needs in the Emergency Department
  • Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program from a recognized University, Masters level preferred
  • Demonstrated evidence of Interprofessional collaboration with Physicians, nurses and other allied health professionals
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the Emergency Department is required
  • Ability to be self-directed in clinical practice particularly in the areas of assessment, intervention/therapeutics and diagnosis
  • In-depth knowledge of the legislation and guidelines that govern NP practice within the Emergency Department setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI)
  • Critical thinking
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and clinical skills
  • BScN Required
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Experience working with patients with febrile illness of all ages; pediatric populations an asset
  • BCLS required
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
  • Currently Registered or eligible for licensure in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with the CNO
  • Demonstrated commitment to a safe environment for staff, patients and families by working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related Hospital policies
  • ACLS preferred


Work Schedule


The successful candidate must be available to work 10 hour The candidate will work predominantly days and evenings with some night shifts required.


Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.


Compensation


BAND C $52.35 - $65.48 per hour


Annual Salary: $102,082.50 - $127,686 per year
