POSITION SUMMARY:


Clinical Manager, Emergency Department


Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinical Manager - Emergency Department is responsible for effective unit operations and providing clinical services resulting in safe, high-quality patient care and outcomes. The Clinical Manager guides and supports an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure positive patient and family experiences in a quality care environment.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Proven change leadership, coaching and multidisciplinary team development success
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field is required; a Master's degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Evidence of knowledge of, and experience with, Quality, the use and interpretation of metrics, and change management required
  • Evidence of strong clinical knowledge and decision making
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, organizational and time management skills
  • Registration is held in good standing with the applicable regulatory body.
  • Minimum 3 years in a progressive leadership role
  • Minimum of 5 years recent acute care hospital experience, Emergency Department preferred


RESPONSIBILITIES:


In collaboration with the Director, the Clinical Manager:


  • Supports a patient-centred model based on best practice, program and corporate standards, continuous quality improvement and the organization's strategic direction.
  • Ensures compliance with required hospital policies and all legislative requirements.
  • Leads high-performing teams and supports a healthy work environment for staff.
  • Ensures clinical excellence, including high-quality, safe patient care and exceptional patient/family experiences.
  • Builds a professional practice climate and facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to patient care
  • Oversees the daily operations of the clinical unit to ensure safe, evidence-based care is provided at the unit level for our patients and the community we serve.
  • Manages day-to-day operational excellence: Human, Financial and Physical resources.
  • Builds positive relationships across the organization and with external partners/agencies.
  • Accountable for performance metrics, monitors and evaluates the operational impact on metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manages the unit resources (Human, Financial, and Physical) to deliver effective, efficient, safe patient care.
