Job Description
Adecco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager with Construction experience in Kingston, ON to join our client's dynamic team. As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental strategies and programs for our client's construction related projects. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards while fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project management and other stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning, design, and execution phases.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and identify potential hazards within the project site, including but not limited to construction sites, manufacturing facilities, or any other project-specific areas.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams on safety-related matters, including the selection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  • Foster a positive safety culture by promoting employee engagement, recognition of safe behaviors, and regular safety communication initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in safety practices. Proactively identify emerging safety issues and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in the project. Ensure all training materials are up to date and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety policies and procedures, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and implement project-specific safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels to promote safety awareness and encourage reporting of safety concerns or incidents.
Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software, incident reporting systems, and other relevant tools.
  • Proven experience as a safety professional in project management, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to influence others to prioritize safety.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant local and federal regulations.
  • Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and developing preventive measures.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) are preferred.
