Respiratory Clinician – Educator Jobs

As a member of the health care team, plans, develops, implements and evaluates education and development programs to enhance clinical proficiency, quality improvement and team skills. Facilitates and expedites continuous learning and professional development through coaching and/or mentoring of staff and clients. Facilitates appropriate coordination of resources to meet identified education and development needs.

The Respiratory Clinician - Educator will be responsible for the orientation, preceptorship program and continuing education regarding new policies, procedures, medical directives, new technologies and new respiratory therapy management. This position has specific responsibility at Hamilton General Hospital, Juravinski Hospital & Cancer Centre, St. Peter's Hospital and West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The Educator will work as part of an education resource team also supporting central education programs.

• Undergraduate level degree and master’s preferred
• Facilitating quality improvement programs
• Recent (3 years) experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care facility with relevant adult experience
• Demonstrated excellence in the ability to initiate, model and support change in a constructive manner
• Recent (1 year) experience in applying adult learning principles
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous education and learning for self and others
• Certified ACLS instructor training will be considered and asset
• Current BCLS, ACLS certification preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in leadership, communication, organization, team building, and conflict resolution
• Knowledge and demonstrated competencies in Patient and Family Centred Care
• Current General Class Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
• Knowledge of and the ability to work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the delivery of patient care services
• Ability and knowledge to access hospital resources
• Demonstrated advanced critical thinking, assessment, planning, evaluation & coordination skills in a fast paced environment

Unit Summary

The Community Medicine and Population Health Portfolio rich in skills and knowledge, diverse in roles and outcomes, and consistently involved in evaluation, research and innovation initiatives. We rally together around common goals in line with HHS’ priorities; and the portfolio’s vision and mission. Relationships and work touches all clinical areas of HHS, and our networks are extensive both internally and externally. McMaster University and Mohawk College are significant collaborators in our daily work. As part of the Community Medicine and Population Health Portfolio, Clinical Practice & Education is under the Interprofessional Development department that supports HHS staff with their education, professional development and practice needs. Services provided by the Interprofessional Practice and Development department include staff education and development; student placements; computer systems education; and libraries.
