Job Description

The opportunity at hand

At Method, we create technology that powers small business growth. As we continue to grow our voice and market share, content marketing is a huge priority for us.

We are looking for a Content Writer who loves to write and is on a lifelong journey to perfect their craft. Someone who wants to create truly insightful content for our small business audience — content that increases brand awareness, influences perceptions and drives conversions.

You are a creative person who loves to brainstorm and collaborate with everyone, from fellow markers to product managers and thought leaders.

This role is on a team ready to double down on the impressive results seen from its SEO content engine. A team where you can have your ideas heard and actioned as you contribute to a content strategy that impacts revenue and provides value to our target audience.

At Method, doing fantastic work is just as important as looking out for each other and our community. From flex hours and full benefits to our monthly Method:Gives program, we do our best to support both our employees and community.

As a marketing team, we’re keen to fail fast, learn from one another, and have (more than) a few laughs along the way.

What we do

Method understands that small businesses are unique. Our vision is to create a process automation platform that is easily personalized for each of our customers.

Our flagship product is Method:CRM, a customer relationship management tool made specifically for small businesses that have scaled to the point where yesterday’s processes no longer work for them. Unlike other CRMs, the combination of Method’s deep QuickBooks sync and no-code automation lets businesses gain control and grow with confidence.

You can learn more about Method and our team here!

The role

As our next Content Writer, you will report to the Senior Manager, Digital Communications as part of the Content team. In this role, you will work alongside a Content Strategist, Content Editor, Senior Product Education Specialist and two Content Writers dedicated to Method’s growth.

What you’ll do

- Write SEO-focused copy for blogs, case studies, guides, landing pages and more!

- Publish and update content on our website that meets the needs of our audience.

- Research the latest small business trends and challenges.

- Read, respond and derive insights from customer reviews.

- Support your fellow marketers with editing on landing pages, ads, etc.

- Share ideas that shape our marketing strategy at large.

What you bring

Before you read this next section, note that we know the “ideal candidate” doesn’t exist — everybody has a unique background and skill set that we could benefit from.

Even if you don’t check every box below, we’d love for you to apply as we are building for the future and growth potential is a priority for us!

- Excellent writing skills and experience crafting engaging digital content

- Experience publishing content with WordPress.

- A lifelong approach to learning that keeps you ahead of the latest content marketing trends.

- A results-driven focus that motivates you to produce content that’s not only enjoyable but also supports team KPIs like lead and revenue generation.

- An appreciation for the power of simplicity and an ability to make complex topics easily understood.

- A strong sense of ownership and a keen eye for details that most others would miss.

- Superb organizational skills that ensure you meet deadlines and prioritize content projects effectively.

- A growth mindset and plenty of creativity.

Bonus points if you have experience with any of the following:

- A diploma or degree in a writing-intense field of study.

- A background in B2B and or tech marketing.

- Experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMRush, Hootsuite, and Adobe Creative Suite.

- Knowledge of SEO best practices.

What we offer

- Fun team collaborative environment.

- Small company experience – working for Method gives you deep insight into the inner workings of how a software company operates and brings you into the fold on key cross-functional decisions.

- Training – You will receive initial and ongoing training on Method’s products, policies and procedures as well as a quarterly professional development budget.

- Flexible work from home/hybrid policy.

- Great downtown location – Method is located right in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant ‘King West’ technology hub at the corner of Adelaide and Spadina Ave.

- Competitive salary.

- Health care and dental plan.

- Company and team social events.

In your first 30 days, you will:

- Complete Method’s bootcamp — a two day deep dive into our platform.

- Meet the Content Team in person at the office. We all come into the office on Thursdays to catch up, brainstorm ideas, and get to know each other on a personal level.

- Learn and become an expert on our internal communication tools, norms, and practices.

- Publish and update content pieces on our website.

In your first 60 days, you will:

- Start creating your first SEO-focused content pieces!

- Provide support to the rest of the marketing team with your fine eye for detail and superb editing skills.

- Build your knowledge of our product, industry, competitors, and our audience's needs.

- Attend your first all hands meeting, where you’ll get a snapshot of how the business is doing across departments, see product showcases, and unwind with food, drinks, and Methoders from other teams.

In your first 90 days, you will:

- Share ideas that shape our content strategy.

- Craft a variety of content pieces, from guides to case studies.

- Uphold the Method brand standard in all your content efforts.

- Participate in your first quarterly review.

In your first year, you will:

- Understand our best-fit customers and tailor messaging to their needs.

- Identify areas for SEO improvements and action them.

- Dive into cross-channel marketing campaigns!

- Participate in your first annual review.

We thank all applicants in advance and will contact only those we wish to interview. No phone calls or agencies, please.

Method is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
