For over 94 years, Fairmont Royal York has stood proudly as a Toronto landmark. When the hotel opened in 1929 it was the tallest building in the British Common Wealth and contained 1,048 rooms, a concert hall, library, extensive bakery, radio station and even a hospital. Today, this essential downtown landmark has completed a multi-million dollar transformation, reimagining its lobby, rooms, dining venues, event spaces, and Fairmont Gold - the property's exclusive hotel within a hotel luxury experience. Another stunning chapter for Fairmont Royal York has begun.

The Receiving Officer is responsible for the correct receipt of all goods and services for the hotel while ensuring the overall security of the hotel's receiving area, and safe operation of freight elevators while contractors, vendors and colleagues on/in hotel receiving premises. He/she acts as a member of the Purchasing, Receiving and Stores team, ensuring the safe and proper operation of the freight elevators, coordinating access and deliveries to the hotel. This individual will take a proactive role, when mechanical, environmental challenges occur and respond equally to hotel, vendor and contractor delivery concerns and will coordinates alternative access and services as required to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Obtaining and processing credits for any damaged or returned goods
  • Investigating unidentified receipts and either secure or reject according to trained protocols
  • Reporting any occurrences of accidents, complaints, criminal activity, and crisis situations
  • Regular area patrols and delivery control
  • Participate in hotel committees and celebrations
  • Operating as a member of the Purchasing and Stores team
  • Scanning invoices daily
  • Ensuring the correct receipt of all goods and services for the hotel according to the provided purchase orders
  • Providing excellent internal and guest service
  • Assisting with Month-end closing requirements
  • Assisting in the orientation of new vendors to hotel's receiving procedures
  • Reporting health and safety hazards
  • Posting of all receipts daily into Procurement system and running of daily receiving reports
  • Ensuring security of Receiving areas and safe operation of freight elevators for all vendors, contractors, hotel guests and colleagues
Other duties as directed by the Purchasing Manager, Assistant Purchasing Manager or Stores Manager
Qualifications
  • General knowledge of food and beverage specifications and quality standards
  • General food knowledge and computer experience an asset
  • Candidate must be organized and accurate with attention to detail
  • Complies with all Health and Safety regulations
Physical Aspects Of Position (included But Not Limited To)
  • Frequent ascending or descending stairs and ramps
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent pushing/pulling carts with up to 250kg load
  • Frequent to constant lifting and carrying up to 20kgs
