Position Summary
  • Report the performance of the quality system to the Windsor facility's management for review, and as a basis for identifying systemic corrective actions and recommending improvement of the quality system.
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors resources to add and increase the support to take the product lines from start to Phase 4 and into production, in line with Company standards, APQP and GPS (Gates Production System) initiatives.
  • Responsible for development and review of the performance planning and developing of the above staff. Ensure staff fully understands their responsibilities and where their present performance level is and areas for improvement. Also, short term and long term goals are established which include divisional requirements.
  • Responsible for the administration of the plant safety policies and the safety of plant personnel, maintains the attitude that all accidents are preventable, and attends all major investigations in his/her area and addresses and closes all corrective action requests as per the agreed to date. Ensure proper direction is set as well.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality system is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with industry standards, customer and corporate requirements.
  • Responsible for goal setting and performance management of all direct reports, as defined in the organizational chart. Ensure that the above staff's priorities are set to meet the customer's needs and Gates operations' needs.
  • Responsible for assessing department resource requirements based on goals and performance targets of the operations and recommending team structure for supporting the requirements.
  • Continually strive to improve all processes and procedures.
  • Monitor progress in support of existing and upcoming programs - Aftermarket/AOE and IOE customers, support growth.
  • Understand the world-wide customer expectation of a Tier I supplier. Ensure that requirements are developed into the systems, both in-house and through the supplier base, in meeting these expectations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Implement and track the effectiveness of quality systems required to ensure Windsor properly fulfills the role as a Tier I supplier of the world-wide automotive market.
  • To operate and maintain all programs, systems, and objectives as defined by the facility quality policy, performance goals and corporate directives, and espousing our Gates Quality Commitment.
  • Ensure all process and procedures are followed resulting in a product which meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Follow corporate and industry standard formats to allow Windsor Operations to meet/exceed the quality expectations and needs of our customers.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • University degree preferred in mechanical engineering with good management abilities or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have a minimum of five years in a quality assurance management capability; experience dealing with a variety of customer and supplier base.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes, including aluminum die casting, metal stampings, springs, fasteners, plastic molding, machining, required as they apply to Gates products.
  • Broad understanding of the international and automotive quality systems required to ensure Tier I requirements are set forth to meet world-wide customer needs.
Required Skills
  • Good organizational skills are required re: directing, coaching, and motivating department staff and associates, communication, and conflict resolution with various external and internal groups of interests, establishment of realistic sample dates for multiple samples and applying the proper resources to ensure the job is done.
  • Must have the flexibility to deal with an expanding facility and understand the requirements needed to meet the demands of that facility and its' customers.
  • Ability to establish short term priorities and long-term goals based on the needs of customers and the corporate.
  • Good analytical skills in problem solving.
  • Good insight into the world-wide quality standards.
  • Familiarity with all measuring instruments and related computer technology.
  • Good understanding of GDT and statistics required.
Physical Demands
While performing the required duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit; use hands to reach, handle, manipulate and feel objects, tools and controls. The employee will need to listen and talk to other employees as well as. Specific vision capabilities required as the employee is to work in front of a computer on a day-to-day basis. Travel is required (10%).
