The Quality Assurance Technician – Civil - will be responsible for ensuring, managing and performing the daily quality control responsibilities of specific Alltrade Industrial Contractors projects.The Quality Assurance Technician will also be responsible for the quality management system (QMS) and overseeing it in an organized and efficient manner and ensuring that the project is constructed in accordance with the established required standards. The Quality Assurance Technician role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process and working with other in-house Quality Assurance / Quality Control personnel and external personnel to produce and document a quality product. He / she will continually foster and implement changes if and when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Responsible for promoting and adhering to Alltrade Industrial’s high standards of quality to customers.
·Create and maintain a culture of quality through coaching and mentoring of employees at all levels.
·Control and distribute company’s quality documentation.
·Monitor and work collaboratively with site staff on all quality related activities on projects
·Perform internal and external audits when needed.
·Verify contractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and contractor documentation submittals.
·Coordinate quality inspections with all the site subcontractors and vendors.
·Create and maintain all inspection test plans (ITP’s).
·When required, attend client quality management meetings.
·Prepare and control project quality system documentation prior to project commencement
·Review quality inspection personnel qualifications and training requirements.
·Monitor and track the disposition of all issues non-conformance reports.
·Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project QMS on site and in the office. Recommend and continuously implement improvements when required.
·Control all archive documentation upon the completion of the project.
·Coordinate all quality related correspondence with the customer’s representatives.
·Control of on site and off-site vendor inspectors.
·Take part in supplier audit.
·Compilation of vendor inspection assignment packages.
·Work with vendors and project staff on resolution of any nonconforming product(s).
·Reviewing vendor’s QA/QC systems in accordance with contractual requirements with Project Supervision.
·Coordination of vendor quality approvals when required with Project Supervision.
·Ensure the verification of documentation and certificates for materials purchased by vendors.
·Review procurement documents to ensure that quality requirements have been correctly translated into purchase requisitions and design documents.
·Communicate with management for quality improvements.
·Coordinate all inspection receipts.
·Distribute relevant QA/QC documentation to site subcontractors.
·Verify that the quality related site activities are in accordance with the applicable codes and standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
·Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field considered an asset.
·Quality Management certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent.
·Minimum 3 years’ experience as a quality management role.
·Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
·Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
·Able to create alternative solutions to problems.
·Excellent time management and coordination skills.
·High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
·Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
·Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
·Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
·Able to work well under pressure.
·Strong attention to detail.
·Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
·Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, Project, etc.) and email.
WORK CONDITIONS:
·Travel to the site, and off-site locations will be required.
·Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, etc.
·Overtime as required.
·Work both indoors and outdoors.
·Will be exposed to construction sites.
