About The Opportunity
We are looking for two full-time Program Directors (Youth or Adult Services) to join our organization in Abbotsford and Surrey, BC.
Youth Services Program Director (Surrey, BC)
Adult Services Program Director (Abbotsford, BC)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will work collaboratively with other members of the Directors’ team. Program Directors are responsible for ensuring the programs within the incumbent’s portfolio are successfully delivered by enhancing the lives of clients we serve and adding value to the agency, through effective planning/oversight, the development and pursuit of strategic objectives, program reporting, the coaching and mentorship of direct reports, and the innovative use of available resources.
Youth Services Program Director: The clients served within this program portfolio are children/youth who may present with behavioural and emotional disorders, moderate mental health, development or medical issues, and may be involved with youth justice, medical services or other community services. The programs operate on a caregiver and/or licensed care model and are designed especially for those who have had limited success in the foster care system.
Adult Services Program Director: The clients served within this program portfolio are adults, who may have a variety of health or social challenges, such as addictions, living independently, acquired brain injuries, cognitive, behavioural, mental health, FASD, and developmental disabilities.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning, overseeing and evaluating program operations and service delivery, while ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements, assessing and addressing areas of improvement
Determining staffing requirements and developing plans to address gaps, including hiring and developing employees for a high-performing team
Establishing and reinforcing the agency's learning culture, holding direct reports accountable for performance, and managing individual and team performance
Developing action plans for the program(s), anticipating change, and making evidence-based decisions that further the agency's mission and values
Preparing presentation-ready reports/communications, researching, writing, and editing materials, and developing project proposals, summaries, and plans
Leading and overseeing accreditation submissions and developing effective policies and procedures that comply with requirements and support program/agency goals
Remaining up-to-date on program-related trends and knowledge, providing guidance to leadership, and taking a leadership role within the Directors' group
Collaborating with the CEO and CFO to ensure program operations meet financial targets, including participating in the development of budgets and securing funding
Fostering collaborative relationships within and outside the agency, acting as a liaison to funders and representing the agency at external events
Identifying and resolving issues proactively, managing crises, and preparing complete, comprehensive, and accurate program reports and funding proposals
Leading various committees and advising leadership on plans, activities, and findings, ensuring alignment with the agency's strategic plan
About You
To qualify you will need a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, as well as 4+ years of progressively responsible management experience. You must also have a valid B.C. Driver's License (Class 5 or Class 7), and suitable driver's abstract and access to a personal vehicle (These positions are based in Abbotsford and Surrey, and involve travel in the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley and the Northwest Territories).
The following skills are essential to success in this role:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, database systems, and web-based conferencing tools
Leadership experience in a unionized setting
Satisfactory criminal record clearance
Excellent interpersonal communication, facilitation, and management skills
Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with others and prepare presentations
Analytical and strategic thinking skills, including the ability to identify areas for improvement
Exceptional leadership skills, including guiding others in building high-performing teams, reinforcing a learning culture, holding others accountable, and motivating others to make decisions aligned with agency values and goals
Excellent conflict management and problem-solving skills
Ability to work with others and collaborate effectively
Ability to identify and analyze operational needs, develop comprehensive plans, and prioritize programs
Demonstrated ability to articulate the business case and rationale behind decisions
Ability to work independently, take initiative, make sound decisions under pressure, and be accountable for results
Multi-tasking skills, adaptability to changing conditions, and organizational skills
Applied understanding of issues related to race, culture, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, poverty, and the lifestyle of individuals
A valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate or willingness to obtain one prior to hire
Specific requirements:
Youth Services Program Director
A background in supporting children and youth in the care of the Director of Child Welfare, and/or residential and community outreach programs
Adult Services Program Director
A background in healthcare (e.g., nursing), as well as experience working with health authorities and Community Living BC (CLBC)
