Our client, a Manufacturer & Distributor of wrapping equipment is looking for a Production Supervisor to join their team in Bolton, Canada.


Shifts:

Currently the successful candidate will work from 11:30am to 8pm shift until further notice. Should be flexible for AM (8am to 4:30pm), PM (4pm to 12:30am) shifts and Weekend Shifts (8am to 4:30pm)


Job Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising day-to-day plant production operations. This includes but is not limited to organizing and assigning work to shop floor personnel, instructing, guiding, and assisting employees in the attainment of production and quality goals/standards, developing, and mentoring team members, and driving safety performance results that meet and/or exceed company goal and targets. You will be a key team member of the Production Department, working to develop operational strategies, policies, procedures, and the management of our human resources. Your role will have direct communication and lead team members in the Production and Maintenance department.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Delegate work assignments based on the production schedule and customer requirements and assure that employees are at maximum productivity.
  • Assisting in hiring and training employees.
  • Document departmental performance metrics, included but not limited to: Direct Labour Hours, On-Time Delivery, Training Hours Conducted, Errors Per Employee, & Employee Productivity.
  • Responsible for assisting with production problems, ensuring tools and equipment are available.
  • Be proactive in satisfying customer needs by communicating to sales or other department requests within 24 hours, troubleshooting problem orders, and follow through from producing order to shipment.
  • Proactive involvement in maintaining safety rules, conducting safety meetings, employee safety education, and improving safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Conduct Labour tracking or production orders and demonstrate accountability on productivity of the operators.
  • Motivate diverse workforce towards continuous improvement in production, quality, and safety goals.
  • Coordinate and encourage employee involvement in team building skills, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and attend meetings to ensure continuous improvement in processes and work habits.
  • Responsible for minimizing scrap and maximizing efficiency and productivity.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior supervisory experience in a production-manufacturing environment (within food manufacturing or packaging).
  • Solid oral, written and listening communication skills necessary.
  • Have strong knowledge of FSSC22000/HACCP/GMP/JHSC.
  • A hands-on work ethic with creative problem-solving skills; disciplined, consistent and hard worker.
  • Candidates must possess education generally equivalent to a college diploma or higher.
  • Must have flexibility and be receptive to sudden and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Requires enthusiasm, initiative, and effective judgment in a fast paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposing and driving change initiatives/improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and understand production scheduling systems.
