POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor, reporting to the Production Manager, will lead a team of hourly plant production employees. The holder of this position will supervise the rendering production facility in Dundas, Ontario with a focus on health and safety activities, product quality and optimize the use of resources. The successful candidate will also promote staff development. This role requires you to be available for rotating shifts.
SCHEDULE: Rotating Shifts-Days, Afternoons and Nights
POSITION TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train to operate production equipment when needed
- Ensure current and future compliance with all standards, including the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the CFIA, HACCP
- Must be available for Rotating Shifts
- Maintain and build an environment conducive to productive and positive relationships with employees
- Assume a leadership role in the health and safety program in order to help create the health and safety annual plan for the establishment
- Organize and lead production team meetings/training as required
- Support the implementation of capital and operational improvements
- Maintain positive relationships with both hourly and managerial staff members
- Support and train hourly production employees and serve as a mentor as well as provide coaching to ensure the successful development of their own staff.
- Lead and complete projects as assigned by the Production Manager
- Monitor and generate reports on production related performance
- Encourage process improvements in all operational functions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- The preferred candidate will have between 3 and 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Proven ability to perform multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with a positive outlook
- Joint health and safety and maintenance experience an asset
- Experience in coaching and mentoring to assist in successful staff development
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in engineering, science or a related technical field an asset
- Ability to maintain open and effective communication with employees and all levels of management
- Ability to cooperate and build relationships with other functional areas and other facilities within Darling Ingredients
- Ability to maintain confidentiality as necessary
- High level of computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Oracle and Kronos a plus
- Self-motivated person that is able to complete assignments on time with little to no supervision
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in a supervisory capacity promoting a teamwork approach
