We are looking for aProduction Supervisor - 2nd Shiftwho will supervise ETO (Engineer to Order) production operations on the afternoon shift.


Job Summary


Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations regarding and, at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and personnel requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.


Responsibilities And Essential Functions


This position is responsible for directing the development and implementation of production goals in safety, quality, customer delivery, and financial improvement. Developing capacity plans and output forecasts based upon complex customer demand trends and variable labor content per production order is critical to the role. Developing and executing resource planning in a high product mix, highly flexible and customized manufacturing process while selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production team is required.


This work consists of planning and administering operating policies, procedures, and practices that foster employee engagement in a continuous improvement driven work environment. This work requires attention to detail, managing multiple priorities and taking actions with minimal direction which may encompass but not limited to the following


  • Establish and implement employee training and development programs and schedules, training and motivating team members in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of policies and procedures. Provide leadership in the support of best practices and compliance to procedures and specifications
  • Actively listening to and responding to employee concerns and issues, demonstrating integrity and trustworthiness under all circumstances and treating others honestly and fairly. Seeking every opportunity to obtain, consider and process all input before making critical decisions or before moving forward with initiatives and plans. Building strong relationships and partnerships to leverage ideas, capabilities, and processes
  • Setting aggressive, well-defined goals to meet business challenges and ensuring performance against those goals. Understanding of sense of urgency around business imperatives and convincing others of that urgency. Identifying and overcoming obstacles to drive initiatives and actions to closure
  • Advocate and maintain an inclusive environment of open and honest communication, enhancing a culture of mutual respect and integrity in which information flows freely
  • Perform resource planning requirements and scheduling of work hours and time off requests. Plan and coordinate production order transitions between shifts and manufacturing departments. Communicate daily production requirements and set targets based upon capacity. Analyze daily backlogs and calculate required capacity to manage order lead times. Develop resource plans based upon individual work cell order demand rates, communicating and collaborating to resolve production issues
  • Accountable for safety, quality, customer delivery, and productivity improvement objectives while integrating and streamlining processes throughout the supply chain and ensuring adoption of best practices to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Select and hire employees and provide on-going performance monitoring. Evaluate employee performance on a continual basis and provide continuous performance feedback. Demonstrate a commitment to employee development, beginning with self, as a means of ensuring the company's ongoing capacity to achieve business goals
  • Anticipating and meeting the information needs of all organizational levels. Comprehending the needs and requirements of customers or business partners in order to bring strategic value to them. Promoting customer needs as the key driver for business goals and initiatives
  • Understand and maintain complex manufacturing order management systems. Administer and maintain employee time at work records and systems. Accountable for timely completion of administrative responsibilities, i.e. record keeping, various reports, and employee reviews.
  • Maintain and enforce safe work practices while executing company policies and procedures with respect to disciplinary policies. Appropriately apply policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to Standard of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Code of Conduct, People Policy, ISO9000 & 14000, and governmental regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental) Control Environment, Information Protection, and functional policies
  • Coach and train teams in the philosophy of continuous improvement and waste reduction concepts. Lead continuous improvement projects, i.e. Kaizen events in areas of responsibility by utilizing problem solving tools as part of Lean Six Sigma based continuous improvement philosophy. Manage and foster the success of projects and initiatives intended to improve customer and business success with full accountability for project results
  • Understand operating budgetary controls and manage departmental expenses to budget and according to business conditions.
  • Instilling an energetic and enthusiastic response in others toward achieving company goals and priorities, and arousing others' commitment and support. Unifying associates around a common vision and goals, achieving business and customer objectives, by fostering a collaborative environment that instills pride, ownership and engagement by all employees through clear communication of objectives and motivation through rewards and recognition linked to accomplishments
  • Leading and/or managing courageously during organizational change; taking appropriate risks and encouraging others to do so, thus promoting a culture that values risk-taking. Practicing flexibility, confidence, and resilience during periods of tumult and change. Maintaining operational effectiveness throughout the change process. Responding to unexpected, challenging, or adverse circumstances resourcefully, constructively, and positively.
  • Calculate labor efficiency, utilization, and productivity. Prepare and present operational metrics during regular order status reviews. Analyze manufacturing labor times for variance and overall reduction opportunities while maintaining high volume production of motor control center products at a competitive cost and consistent with quality requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Technology, or related) or Business (Management, Supply Chain, or related discipline)
  • Experience in supervision/engineering in an electrical or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
