As such, NYGH has embarked on the most ambitious expansion in its history, centred on a modern New Patient Care Tower addition and a new long-term care home development. Together they will be at the heart of a connected Campus of Care supporting the community at all life stages. The new Long Term Care Development will be amongst the largest in the province, featuring a progressive vision and design, with ground-breaking planned for later this year, and substantial completion by 2027. The New Patient Care Tower is progressing through the Ministry’s approval process, with functional program completed, planned ground-breaking in 2026/27 and substantial completion by 2030.
Committed to teaching and research, it is NYGH’s aspiration to create an institute for research and innovation to foster the creative efforts of people who are passionate about improving the delivery of health care.
President and Chief Executive Officer
The Board of NYGH is currently seeking a new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead this progressive healthcare organization that puts caring for people, patients, volunteers, staff, physicians, and learners at the forefront of everything they do into its next transformational phase. With the support of a highly engaged Board and Senior Leadership Team and strong partnership with the Foundation, the CEO of NYGH will play an integral role in the expansion and modernization of a top-tier Canadian hospital and its campus. The CEO will be an instrumental, inspiring visionary and beacon driving forward the purpose and goals of the organization, while maintaining and championing NYGH’s celebrated organizational culture and commitment to the community. Along with the board, the CEO will shape the critical next steps for NYGH to better serve the community. The new CEO will have the opportunity to develop a strategy and clinical vision for the future.
The Individual + Qualifications
The ideal candidate will ideally possess a master’s degree in health service administration, business administration, or a health-related area of graduate study coupled with a clinical background. They will bring the success of their 10 or more years in progressive leadership roles within large, complex, multi-site and matrixed healthcare organizations, and will have an engaging, approachable, open, and transparent leadership style that thrives on a high level of interaction with others. Experience leading meaningful and collaborative partnerships, such as with OHT partners, academic institutions and primary care providers and leaders. Strategic and transformational leadership ability that is future-focused with a capability to create and maintain vision, forecast industry and system trends, facilitating organizational collaboration that can help drive a vision forward. Strong strategic and corporate planning skills that will ensure the success of leading the development and execution of a new visionary strategy in 2025. A motivational leader who will share best practices and cross-training within the organization to build a high-performance work environment, and who will recognize and draw from the expertise of others. Ideally, the candidate has overseen the creation and implementation of brand strategy in partnership with a Foundation or other partners.
