About The Opportunity
Lake Babine Nation seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join our Burns Lake, BC team. Collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will report directly to the Chief & Council. The role involves overseeing sensitive community situations and engaging in matters often infused with strong community sentiments, ranging from culture to politics.
The CEO is accountable for overall health, performance, and strategic direction, with the expectation to work 14 days on-site and 14 days remote (hybrid role), until strong community connections are established and the opportunity to relocate arises. This includes refining the business model for internal productivity and revenue, building external partnerships for enhanced profitability, and ensuring fiscal alignment with long-term goals.
Responsibilities Will Include (but Are Not Limited To)
Promoting LBN's interests while executing duties
Reporting issues affecting LBN's rights and title
Preparing briefs and memos, informing Chief and Council about policies affecting LBN and engaging with external stakeholders
Developing, and implementing short and long-term tactical plans aligned with business goals, including resource allocation
Collaborating with executives for comprehensive strategic planning and maintaining key relationships with government agencies and professional organizations
Leading strategic business development, corporate planning decisions, and ensuring adherence to annual budgets
Regularly reporting progress to Chief & Council on objectives and providing financial updates to the CFO
Communicating, collaborating on spending control, budgeting, and operational excellence
Facilitating third-party audits for effective resolutions and overseeing audit-related activities
Establishing and maintaining vital ties with business partners: LBN Forestry LP, Burns Lake Native Development Corporation, etc.
Keeping Chief & Council informed of activities, threats, opportunities, and recommended actions
Monitoring and staying updated on legislation, regulations, and company procedures applicable to operations
Meeting with department heads for issue resolution, updates, and facilitating collaboration among units
About You
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's in Accounting, Business, or Finance, with special considerations made for applicants with an MBA, CPA or CMA. You will also need a minimum of 10 years of related First Nation administration experience at a senior level.

Familiarity with Nedut'en Traditional Territories & Culture
Program administration, management, and evaluation
Understanding of Council roles and responsibilities
Strong accounting and financial knowledge
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
Human Resource standards expertise
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
Proficiency in report and policy preparation
Effective proposal writing and funding sourcing
Proven interpersonal and teamwork skills
Handling confidential and sensitive information discreetly according to the Confidentiality, Privacy Act and Code of Ethics Agreement.
Intermediate Excel and Office software proficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication
Analytical thinking and accuracy
Cultural awareness and sensitivity
Holds a valid B.C. Driver's License and access to a vehicle
Successfully passes a Criminal Records Check

About The Benefits
As a valued member of our team, you will be awarded a $120,000-148,581 salary range evaluated on knowledge, skills, and experience, plus:
