Responsibilities
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the OR Booking Clerk is responsible for facilitating surgical related activities. Such activities include efficient utilization of clinic nursing/anaesthesia time. In addition, they are responsible for the coordination of registration and admission; booking patients and the required tests in preparation for surgery and coordination of clinic appointments and other tests.

Responsibilities

Such activities include efficient utilization of clinic nursing/anaesthesia time. In addition, they are responsible for the coordination of registration and admission; booking patients and the required tests in preparation for surgery and coordination of clinic appointments and other tests.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an approved Office Administration program
- Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to efficiently prioritize job requirements and work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in OR Booking procedures and use of Operating Room Management System
- Proficient in the effective use of computers (Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, Power Point, E-mail) Meditech and the ability to acquire additional skills as necessary
- Completion of an approved Medical Terminology courser
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a position providing administrative support
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (listening, verbal and written), demonstrating a high degree of tact, sensitivity, judgment, courtesy and confidentiality
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
