About The Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager – Perioperative Services and CSPD, the Perioperative Booking Clerk, in collaboration with the charge nurse and Assistant Manager, is responsible for ensuring that OR theaters are utilized appropriately in accordance to OR block distribution and Patient Access Registry Nova Scotia (PARNS) with consideration of the available human, financial and physical resources. In collaboration with the Surgical Preadmission Clinic (SPAC) coordinates the client’s surgical journey to ensure that the client has had the appropriate work up completed. The OR booking clerk works with departments and units that impact OR utilization to ensure that booking times are appropriate in order to facilitate smooth flow of the OR day.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Strong knowledge of multi-disciplinary job functions preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare facility preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with change management and conflict resolution would be an asset
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Demonstrated formal training and working experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet) as well as Meditech ORM required, PARNS, SharePoint
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • One to two years experience working with scheduling and/or booking of patients or like tasks required
  • Medical terminology course is required
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures would be an asset
  • Successful completion of Post Secondary education with a focus on office administration procedures required

  • 1100-1500 hrs daily
  • Permanent Part-time (50%) position, 37.5 Hours Bi-Weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$21.73 - $24.31 Hourly
