Operations Manager – Construction Disposal Bins

Our client has a history fueled by a 35-year history built on quality without compromise. The leadership team has added to their customer service offering by expanding with a construction disposal bins business to complete an A-Z product/service offering to their clients.

Leading a strong and diverse team, the Operations Manager will oversee all daily operations for the assigned location, ensuring all employees conduct their assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and professional manner while performing to the company policies and procedures and the appropriate laws that govern them.

In addition to hands-on oversight of the assigned daily operations, he/she will support in the development of new business, maintain our existing business/clients and ensure our brand is well-represented in the communities we work in. Finally, he/she will play an integral part of not only establishing the annual budgets as per company standards but reporting on key monthly metrics and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Human Resources team to professionally manage all HR items such as but not limited to recruitment, selection, discipline, etc.
• Proactively take a leadership role in customer service and professionally resolve any customer complaints and concerns.
• Working with the Business Development team, assist in sourcing, developing and delivering new opportunities and/or tenders to grow the business.
• Ensure that all employees are trained to safely operate their assigned vehicles.
• Participate in the development of budgets for each fiscal year and further participate in the monthly financial and metric reviews.
• Model a culture of safety through personal and professional safety leadership, including actively leading and participation in all Health and Safety meetings and investigations.
• Other duties as directed or required.
• Manage and provide leadership for all direct reporting employees, overseeing the delivery and collection activities to ensure high standards of safety, accuracy and profitability.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

• Excellent ability to listen, analyze and adapt to change
• Strong ability to plan, prioritize and execute a multitude of projects and initiatives, with a proven track record of measurable accomplishments and improvements in previous roles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to build a safe, healthy culture amongst a diverse set of employees
• Demonstrated experience in directly managing a staff including dispatchers and driver/laborer employees.
• Strong computer skills, with an ability to learn and integrate new and emerging programs
• Strong knowledge of trucks and equipment and an ability to work collaboratively with our Fleet Management team
• Ability to operate a DZ vehicle is a bonus

Requirements

• Experience and strong knowledge in operating waste vehicles, including a current DZ license
• Strong leadership skills, with 5-7 years managerial experience in a similar role and industry, with experience managing a diverse staff
• Experience using MS Word, Excel, and other software programs.
• Strong knowledge of applicable legislation including OH&S Act.
• Business-focused and relevant post-secondary education a definite asset.
• Current First Aid and WHMIS training certification
