You must demonstrate leadership and be capable of project planning, organizing and developing optimum solutions to problems.

Key elements of work at this level include manufacturability innovation, providing manufacturing leadership, and project mentoring. You will work with the custom camera team from beginning to end of product development, driving manufacturability and planning for the hand-off of new products to standard manufacturing, advising the design team on all aspects of the cameras and ensuring designs incorporate future needs for our standard teams to build

Essential Functions

• Assist in developing metrics to measure group performance.
• Compliant to, and as applicable ensure reports are compliant to, their responsibilities to workplace health and safety practices as noted in DALSA’s health and safety policies, work instructions/procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and supporting OH&S Regulations.
• Meet duration and due dates for tasks on the product introduction schedule and provide regular updates and feedback to the Project Manager and Technical Leaders.
• Work with the Process and Test Engineering groups to document, implement, and qualify cost effective processes and equipment for each product introduction.
• Development of all required documentation for the manufacturing process that is related to the product being introduced, including training of the various support and manufacturing groups.
• Assist in the development of the project schedule through identification of the tasks required and their duration.
• Development, assembly, and testing of tools and fixtures to optimize production methods and to permit the introduction of new products into the manufacturing flow.
• Assess the level of manufacturability of new products that are to be transferred to standard Manufacturing; determine the fit of the new product to the standard manufacturing processes and identify new processes and equipment if gaps exist.
• Effective inter and intra-departmental communication and project facilitation.
• Assist in recruiting of engineering staff.
• Develop and apply supervisor skills in this role as a team leader.
• Document all issues during the product introduction cycle that affect product performance and manufacturing efficiencies.
• Compliant to, and ensure reports are compliant to, their documented responsibilities to the Quality Program as noted in the Quality Manual and supporting procedures.
• Work with Test Engineering groups in the assembly, test and qualification of test equipment to optimize production methods and to permit the introduction of new products into the manufacturing flow.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a versatile thinker and quickly assimilates and integrates new knowledge, builds working relationships easily and demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
• College Diploma in Electronics Technology or University Degree in Engineering, Science, or Technology.
• Experience with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience related to product introduction in an electronics manufacturing environment or technical development.
• Experience with software tools such as LabView and Matlab is an asset.
• Familiarity with FMEA and similar analysis methods for new product introduction and development.
