The Role

Midwinter Entertainment is a Behaviour Interactive studio. Founded as an independent game developer in 2016, Midwinter proudly joined Behaviour Interactive in 2022, and we are now working on our next unannounced title. Now part of Behaviour, we are expanding our work locations, offering positions in select locations across the U.S., Quebec, and Ontario in Canada. We offer several modes of work (100% from home, Flex, 100% in-office) to all our employees, with offices located in Kirkland, WA, Montreal, and Toronto.

Midwinter is looking for a full-time Narrative Designer to join our talented team. We are a small studio where the impact of your work will be felt in the games that we make.

You will work with the Creative Director to develop and evangelize the game’s universe throughout the experience, functioning as the team’s central resource for all things narrative-related. You will be working with a highly experienced team with a lot of passion and energy, and your work will directly contribute to the success of our yet-to-be-announced project.

In this role you will :

• Work with our world-class audio team to prepare scripts, record voice over, implement narrative beats, and breathe life into the game world;
• Participate in and field feedback from frequent team playtests;
• Work with colleagues to define characters, backstories, and personalities;
• Write, revise, and implement in-game dialog and text;
• Work with the Creative Director and an interdisciplinary writers’ room to establish and expand the lore and tone of the game;
• Create documents & materials to support casting, marketing, and community efforts.
• Work with interdisciplinary teams throughout development to find creative ways for the narrative to bleed through;

What we're looking for :

• Experience crafting story in session-based games or games with strong procedural elements;
• Enthusiasm to work cross-discipline to bring an experience to life;
• Degree in English, Creative Writing, Theatre, Film, or Game Writing;
• 3+ Years of industry experience;
• Experience with Unreal Editor and third person action games;
• An appreciation for weird, dark, worlds of cosmic horror;
• Bonus: One or more shipped titles.
