Job Description
MANAGER, STUDENT JUDICIAL AFFAIRS


ACADEMIC STRATEGY AND INTEGRATION


NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone who can have honest conversations and find ways forward in the oversight of our Student Judicial Affairs team (Academic Integrity, Student Conduct, and related Research and Evaluation) with an overall commitment to ensuring student success through supporting students, faculty, and staff through resolution processes, issues management, education, and prevention.


Reporting to the Dean, Academic Strategy and Integration, the Manager, Student Judicial Affairs engages in cross-Faculty work providing strategic and operational leadership to the SJA team. Focusing on human-centered service design and delivery, the manager will grow the efficacy, quality, and operational efficiency of the office while building relationships, developing academic policy, redesigning processes, monitoring success, advising on issues management, and developing research and evaluation initiatives to support and assess practice and operations. The Manager helps to integrate planning and achievement towards NorQuest 2030 We Are Who We Include as we look to implement Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Decolonial Indigenization work into everything we do.


How You’ll Make a Difference


  • Contribute and participate in the dissemination of research, practice, and knowledge in the field of student judicial affairs, student conduct, and academic integrity including working to evolve, innovate, and advance NorQuest’s practices and presence.
  • Develop and implement an issues management strategy identifying internal and external issues, working with all relevant stakeholders to advance understanding and knowledge of the issues, address these issues with research, policy and practice changes, and develop and maintain an ongoing communication and outreach plan.
  • Facilitate strategic planning and implementation with internal partners and stakeholder to evaluate, refine, and improve our current services to students and Faculty.
  • Ensure Student Judicial Affairs Department budgets and programming areas support the Academic Plan and college directions.
  • Integrate and coordinate student conduct and academic integrity activity across the college.
  • Lead and contribute to policy development and implementation, and overall planning and strategic direction of the college and faculty.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, mentorship, and performance development support to direct reports, promoting a culture of continuous learning and commitment to student and faculty experience.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of a strong team within ASI, promoting and practicing the NorQuest Qs, while contributing to the development and implementation of divisional and program strategic plans.
  • Research and maintain significant knowledge of practices in the provision of academic integrity and non-academic misconduct services.
  • Ensure student success, well-being, and a quality learner experience.
  • Provide leadership to specified committees, projects, and initiatives.
  • Ensure that Student Judicial Affairs feedback, issues, and concerns are communicated in the academic and college planning and decision-making processes.
  • Write briefing notes, position papers, presentations, and other materials.
  • Lead and contribute to student, faculty, and staff awareness, professional development, and dialog on academic integrity and student conduct.
  • Implement changes that reflect new approaches to service delivery and a student-centered approach.


What You Bring


  • Master’s Degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in leadership or management roles, preferably in a post-secondary environment leading innovation in higher education.
  • Knowledge and experience working with student judicial affairs or student conduct fields.

  • Experience in developing and implementing issues managements plans.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications (specifically, MS Office suite, including Teams and Microsoft BI).
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience in advancing anti-racism, justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and decolonial Indigenization initiatives and understanding.
  • Experience with external relations, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring student success and prioritizing the academic well-being of racialized students.
  • Working knowledge of project management and collaboration tools would be an asset.


SALARY $111,219 - $139,052 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
