- Develop and maintain good relations with other agencies, consumer groups, media, funding sources, general public, local government contacts, community professionals and volunteers
- Serve as the key contact in our relationship with the local community and foster opportunities to better integrate VLRC services and programmes into healthcare strategies and initiatives
- Negotiate and monitor fee-for-service contracts with third-party payer organizations (e.g.) school boards, private businesses), as well as workshops and presentations
- Utilizing supportive management techniques, provide supervision to direct reports including the interviewing and selection of new employees, the completion of annual performance evaluations, approving all requests for leaves of absence, approving all expenditures, and providing discipline, if required
- Serving as spokesperson, establish and maintain high profile throughout the region to heighten awareness of VLRC’s purpose and needs
- Work in collaboration with VLRC management and staff toward the effective coordination of client services and resources between different departments of VLR, DBCS and CNIB
- Responsible for professional development and training of staff as appropriate
- Oversee daily operations of the VLRC offices
- Monitor budget for service delivery in all geographic areas within the Region
- Develop and maintain professional partnerships with area ophthalmologists, optometrist and other primary eye care professions to ensure effective coordination, integration and referrals into and out of rehabilitation services, to the benefit of shared patients and clients
- In coordination with Executive Director, develop and monitor the Operating Plan and annual budget in accordance with management directions and standards
- Coordinate all VLRC service related issues for the region
- Make recommendations to the Executive Director regarding new program initiatives and ideas to meet client needs and improve service delivery
- Attend meetings with various consumer organizations and funders as required
- Requisition and disseminate material relevant to professional standards of excellence
- Monitor KPI efficiency results, staff caseloads and waiting lists for the region
- Conduct staff meetings on regular basis
- Identify the educational and training needs of service staff and assist in the development of staff training workshops and seminars
- Ensure that all direct service staff comply with essential file documentation in accordance with National Systems and Procedures
- Supervise the maintenance of client files in accordance with National Standards
- Assist in the research and development of proposals and other documents as required; facilitate the preparation of statistical and information reports on the region’s services and programs
- In consultation with the Executive Director, responsible for the development and implementation of effective service delivery systems and programs in the region to ensure equitable rehabilitation services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner for all clients in accordance with National Systems and Procedures
- Assist with presentations and/or coordinating throughout the Region
- Provides change management and change leadership support for management, clinical programs and staff
- Leads through influence the clinical expertise of vision loss rehabilitation therapy
- Utilize quality improvement, change leadership and client/community engagement methodologies to achieve improvements in health care outcomes
- Ability to provide effective solutions to routine as well as complicated problems utilising diplomacy analysis, creativity, and problem solving skills
- Works under the general guidance of National/Provincial guidelines and standards but has latitude in making decisions on routine tasks
- Demonstrates passion for our mission, and commitment to the strategic plan
- Takes initiative to keep abreast of changing circumstances and recommends changes to conform with VLRC operating processes
- Facilitates and enhances team efforts on a professional level and share specialized knowledge, sources, experience, concepts, and skills
- Demonstrated decision making skills; self directed
- Knowledge of client management systems and change management techniques.

- Demonstrated knowledge of supportive management skills

- Experience in developing service delivery models; ability to synthesize information.
- Bilingual in English and French an asset
- Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis
- Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders; approachable.
- Supportive and sensitive to individuals’ needs.
- Knowledge and experience in managing the operations of a regional office
- Certification through ACVREP is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in working in not for profit, in the field of vision loss desired
- Knowledge and experience in budget preparation
- Bachelor’s degree Human Services or holds post-secondary degree(s) from a program relevant to overseeing a health services team
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum five year’s experience in leadership role with experience in program development, multi-disciplinary service delivery
- Knowledge of adaptive technology an asset
- Proficient in MS Office suite software applications
