We are looking for a Manager to support us in maintaining our reputation as a leader in Advisory services both in Bermuda and globally.
Manager - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Advisory
KPMG Advisory is looking for a Manager to support business development/ growth and delivery of a broad range of advisory and assurance services relating to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing insight on regulatory developments and requirements (in Bermuda and across jurisdictions relevant to the Bermuda marketplace, as well as internationally in relation to the insurance sector);
- Managing and supporting business development activities, including public presentations and writing thought leadership on relevant ESG/ climate change risk management topics, leading relationships with clients and regulatory bodies, developing client proposals, presentations & other client related documents (and leading training courses relating to ESG topics); and
- Services relating to: (i) climate change risk management (specifically in relation to the insurance/ financial services sector); (ii) developing and implementing ESG strategy and frameworks, including de-carbonisation strategies and the development of metrics to track/ report on GHG emissions; and (iii) developing appropriate reporting frameworks to comply with accounting/ regulatory requirements for ESG-related reporting and disclosure;
- Managing and supporting client service delivery relating to:
- Providing integrated ESG reporting advisory and assurance services to financial institutions, under a range of reporting frameworks;
- Providing an ESG review of investment proposals, giving feedback and guidance to ensure that it meets the client’s policies and procedures;
- Being based in Bermuda but working effectively with our ESG team across the KPMG Islands Group, contributing to, and leveraging, the wider skillset and resources available from across a number of jurisdictions to optimize our virtual team’s performance across these locations;
- Other duties may be assigned by the Partnership from time to time.
- The development of ESG frameworks that practically address ESG risks and opportunities for a broad range of clients and industries, with a specific focus on the insurance sector and public/ infrastructure sectors;
- Working with our clients (predominantly in the insurance and public/ infrastructure sector) to develop policies, procedures and templates for identifying, managing and monitoring environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues across their organization and, where relevant, in investee companies;
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and attributes and ideally bring experience in the insurance (or wider financial services) sector:
- Experience in leading ESG assurance projects
- In depth understanding of ESG risks & strategy. Experience in insurance/ financial services and ESG/ climate change risk management relevant to these sectors.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact with highly experienced professionals within global asset management companies
- Ability to define a compelling vision for the growth in this service area and a strong track record of successfully securing work in this area
- Excels in project management
- A primary degree in finance, commerce, business, environmental science or a related discipline
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently
- Over 3 years of experience working on ESG/ climate change risk management related topics, either in a consultancy or industry role
- Knowledge of and experience with international sustainability and assurance guidelines and standards such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI), Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmarks (GRESB), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and ISAE 3000/AUP reporting
- Exceptional attention to detail, combined with excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence and maturity to relay due diligence findings to our global client base and become a trusted advisor
