Aecon is currently seeking a Document Control Manager to join the iconic Gordie Howe - Bridging North America Project based out of Windsor, Ontario.


This position assists with the planning and coordination of Project Document & Data Management (PDDM) project responsibilities including support of task force objectives and project milestones. The Document Control Manager will supervise the Project Documentation Control Team, which is tasked with providing direct support to the Design Build Construction Team focused on the development of a major infrastructure project.


What You’ll Do Here


  • Conduct a periodic audit to ensure consistency and accuracy of project records as per project and contractual requirements
  • Manage the intake, filing, retention, and issuance of project-related documentation to support Construction activities throughout all phases of the project
  • Follow and enforce GDP requirements on all documentation submissions and revisions
  • Issue project transmittals, submittals and keep transmittal record database
  • Provide an organized classification and document naming structure used to effectively manage, locate, and store documents produced by within the selected document repository environment
  • Ensure the security and integrity of documents stored within the project document repository environment
  • Collaborate with the necessary departments to ensure that the document control practices used and comply with local site and global corporate policies and procedures
  • Data entry into document management database ( Aconex, BIM-360, SharePoint, eBuilder)
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Oversee and support the US PDDM staff's day-to-day task assignments, training, provide guidance, and general supervision in correlation with the project PDDM Lead
  • Maintain vendor, construction, and engineering turnover documentation packages in electronic and physical document repository environments
  • Manage and complete reproduction requests whether in-house or outsourced
  • Assist the Document Control Manager in the management of submittals, documents, as-builts, drawing design packages, DCNs, FCRs, and RFIs
  • Support internal and external resources with managing red-lines of project lifecycle documentation and drawings
  • Manage the intake, filing, retention, and updating of drawings including AutoCAD files related to the BNA project


What You Bring To The Team


  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or certificate with relevant working experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • 5+ years of document control experience, preferably working within a major infrastructure construction environment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced document control team
  • Awareness of information security and absolute requirements to confidentially requirements with sensitive information
  • Minimum 5 years of industry-related experience required
  • Proficient with MS Office suite applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Power Point) and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, E-Builder and BIM 360 management systems, Aconex
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work tasks
  • Energetic and flexible to take on tasks in the document control department as required
  • Physically capable to manipulate large packages of documents, drawing sticks, and binders
  • Ability to work within a team environment or autonomously as required
  • Previous experience with construction design build documentation in infrastructure project environment is an asset
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to generally supervise document control staff
  • Lead / Supervisory experience
