The Opportunity
Our Liquids Marketing and Trading team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary.
We are seeking a Manager, Canadian Crude Oil Trading who has knowledge and experience in performing non-routine trading activities. This role works closely with US and Canadian based Crude Oil traders, schedulers, analysts, and management. The key focus of this position is to develop oil supply opportunities to optimize our current asset position, develop new markets and manage a team of Canadian based Traders and Schedulers.
What You’ll Do
  • Other tasks as required
  • Develop views of crude oil infrastructure development and the associated impacts on markets
  • Formulate both short and long-term portfolio optimization and risk reducing strategies
  • Must be able to work in a non-regulated environment and meet/respect all compliance and Code of Business ethics requirements
  • Drive initiatives on market fundamental analysis, supporting the fundamental team
  • Have experience in trading physical and financial crude markets, with an emphasis on Canadian Markets
  • Develop, execute, and monitor trade strategies, clearly communicate exposures, and confirm/report final PnL
  • Support team in growth initiatives by providing guidance on system improvement requirements, RISK limit recommendations (ROC reviews), Leadership reviews, and mentorship/training
  • Understand crude market dynamics and have ability to work with team to collaborate on different trade strategies, supporting both physical and financial positions
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven team player and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Advanced computer skills particularly with Excel
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience, preferably within the energy industry
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to work in a high pressure, time sensitive environment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • An equivalent combination of education and direct experience may be considered
  • Ability to apply skills and knowledge to changing issues and situations
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Business, Finance, Economics or Math/Statistics is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Passion for continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with Energy Trading and Risk Management systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • A solid understanding of crude refining value and the refinery process
  • Practical trading knowledge of Canadian & US crudes, pipelines, tankage, and traditional refining outlets
  • Good understanding of offshore cargo trading fundamentals
