We are currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to be based out of our Edmonton office. This position will work with our team of recognized industry experts within our Engineering group. We are willing to consider new graduates that have a passion for Geotechnical Engineering and want to learn from the best.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures
- Working in all aspects of geotechnical investigations from cradle to grave
- Communicating with clients and sub-consultants and internal stakeholders
- Working with field staff on all aspects of projects
- Obtaining field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and working with Senior staff to provide recommendations
Qualifications:
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment
- Experience modelling geotechnical projects using finite element software (PLAXIS, etc), LPILE, WEAP, etc. a definite asset
- Must be physically capable of performing the manual field duties required
- Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), teamwork and mentorship skills are essential
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship
- Experience in a consulting engineering environment would be considered an asset but is not mandatory
- Must be or eligible to register as a professional engineer Alberta
- Travel will be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, generally within western Canada
- Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering
- Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player
- Experience writing internal and external reports and proposals
