The schedule is 4 days on and 3 days off, however, this can be negotiated for the right candidate.

The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for:

• Overseeing the collection and analysis of geotechnical data, monitor ground conditions, and provide timely recommendations to optimize mine design and production sequencing.
• Leading the development and implementation of ground support designs for the underground mine, with a focus on optimizing safety, stability, and operational efficiency.
• Conducting comprehensive geotechnical risk assessments and develop risk management strategies (such as the Ground Control Management Plan) to minimize hazards and ensure the integrity of the underground structures
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for enhancing geotechnical practices, processes, and technologies, and implementing innovative solutions.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to the geotechnical team, ensuring the effective execution of geotechnical design and analysis activities.
• Collaborating closely with other departments, including mine operations, planning, surface geotechnical, and geology, to provide geotechnical input and support in decision-making processes.
• Ground control management: responsible for managing the ground control activities at the underground mine. This includes monitoring the excavation stability, designing, and implementing reinforcement systems, and providing support for emergency response plans
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry best practices, and internal policies related to geotechnical engineering.

Salary: Open to wage negotiations based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

• Working experience with geotechnical software packages, such as Rocscience suite, FLAC, or similar tools
• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 10 yrs experience in the mining industry, and a strong background in underground mines
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of block-cave mining methods is considered an asset
• Strong communication skills
• Working experience in designing, installing, monitoring, and analyzing seismic and instrumentation systems such as ESG, Geo4site, TDR, MPBX, and OTDR
• Professional Engineering Designation (EGBC, APEGA, APEGS)
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
