Mechanical Engineer-In-Training (E.i.t.)

Maxfield is looking to hire a Mechanical E.I.T. to support engineering activities at the Crossfield location. As a Mechanical E.I.T., you will be an integral part of our dynamic engineering team, working with senior engineers, supporting the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and components for transport units and pressure vessels. Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform weight distribution analysis for bobtail trucks and trailers to optimize payload based on structural integrity of the truck/trailer and road allowable limits across Canada.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of all drawings and bills of material in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Preparation of models and drawings including equipment layouts (vessels, structural, trailers), piping spools, P&IDs and general arrangements utilizing 3D CAD Software.
• Perform calculations under the supervision of supervising engineer to verify structural integrity of products.
• Assisting in the preparation of technical documentation and reports for design registration submission to federal and provincial authorities.
• Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety protocols and adherence to industry standards.
• Collaborating with senior engineers or project engineer to contribute to the design and analysis of pressure vessels and transport trailers.
• Update job knowledge by participating in continuing education.
• Enter bills of material based on client specification to drive projects from design to production.

Qualifications Requested:

• Superior communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptionally strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of ASME BPVC VIII-1 and ASME B31.3.
• Knowledge of CSA B620 and B149.2 will be considered a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of fundamental principles in mechanical engineering, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and material science.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience preferably in pressure vessel or transport design.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Previous cargo transport trailer and cryogenic pressure vessel experience preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience is an asset.
