As a Hydrogeologist you will join our Edmonton, Alberta office as part of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of exciting project with responsibilities as follows:


  • Leading design and execution of drilling and monitoring programs
  • Support engineering needs for groundwater treatment and dewatering
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead field programs consisting of collecting soil and groundwater samples, installing monitoring wells, conducting pumping tests and installing, setting up and collecting data sets from groundwater monitoring equipment
  • Prepare a variety of technical reports including analyzing and interpreting results and reporting project data
  • Provide technical and project management support for a wide range of hydrogeology projects including: local and regional hydrogeologic assessments, contaminated site assessments, regulatory groundwater monitoring programs, and developing conceptual site models
  • Active participation in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture


What We Are Looking For

  • Familiarity with the Alberta regulatory environment and applicable regulations
  • Professional Geoscientist/Engineer, or eligibility to register as a Professional Geoscientist with APEGA
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering or a related field
  • Practical experience in physical and contaminant hydrogeology, CSM development, drilling and aquifer testing, risk assessment and management, and groundwater monitoring well network design
  • Self-motivated and possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within a consulting environment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required
  • Experience writing technical and regulatory reports
  • Working knowledge of industry software such as AQTESOLV, Surfer, AccuMap, GeoSCOUT, FEEFLOW and AQUACHEM
