We are looking for a Junior Web Engineer to focus on our Joist product. Joist, an EverCommerce solution group and member of the EverPro suite of products, is an end to end vertical software platform for small & medium-sized trades contractors. We have a simple mission: Make Contractors Heroes. Joist provides web and mobile applications for small business contractors to estimate, invoice, record, and process payments, and manage projects from anywhere. From humble beginnings, we're now helping over 1 million contractors across North America, the UK, and Australia, making us one of the largest trades platforms in the world and we have major growth planned!

Responsibilities:

You will contribute to solutions from inception to deployment, and everything in between. The solutions you and your team build must not only work for Joist today, but also support rapid iteration and innovation as we grow. Your work is going to be nothing less than redefining the home renovation industry. The key aspects of this role include:

CS Fundamentals: You have an understanding of algorithms, data structures, design patterns and data storage technologies. You are able to select the right tool for the right job.

Code Quality: You write effective, modern, and highly readable code. You are receptive to feedback and suggestions on how to make your code better, and you are excited to contribute to a live, highly used, production application.

Teamwork Many of the problems we encounter require insight from many parts of the business. Your ability to coordinate and communicate is essential to our success.

Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:

• Comfortable in working with minimal supervision and asking the right questions to get themselves unblocked
• Familiarity with a state management library for React such as Redux Toolkit or similar
• Hands on experience in developing responsive web apps
• Able to take constructive feedback positively and looking for ways to improve
• Bonus Skills and Experience for this role:
• Familiarity with accessibility
• Hands on experience working with CSS pre-processor such as SASS/SCSS
• Hands on experience with vanilla Javascript ES6+ and one or more JS frameworks (Preferably React or similar)
• Hands on experience with a version control system such as GIT
• Familiarity with a unit testing framework such as Jest & Enzyme or similar
• Hands on experience with JS data structures such as arrays, objects and use best practices while working with them
• Familiarity with any form library, preferably Formik

Where:

The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.
