Role Designation: Hybrid (1-2 days in office)
:
The Investment Analyst is responsible for executing day-to-day activities of the Investment Finance Team. The analyst is expected to support the accounting infrastructure, processes, and investment reporting. The analyst will synthesize, monitor, analyze and summarize investment reports, allowing Senior Management and the Leadership Team to make informed and relevant business decisions. The analyst will maintain and monitor the investment portfolio and actively participate in projects, acting in an advisory role from an investment reporting and operations perspective.
Accountabilities:
Investment Reporting
- Prepare for monthly and quarterly investment reporting (including MIRs, Watchlist, Duration, Market Yields, etc.) in order to support Northbrook and Canadian Financial Reporting Teams to develop accurate consolidated and non-consolidated financial information, as well as to complete other regulatory filing requirements.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations to ensure information is complete and all accounts balance.
- Run various reports and analyze investment statements to record journal entries (including management fee accruals) and ensure all investment information is captured accurately.
Investment Analysis
- Compile information requiring combinations of data from multiple sources (internal and external), while independently recommending and implementing process enhancement initiatives to improve efficiencies.
- Create new information templates, tracking tools, databases, and retrieval processes, to derive meaningful information for business decision-making purposes. Uses this information to recommend improvements.
Investment Processing
- Implements, maintains, and monitors control mechanisms and processes in order to make recommendations on cash transfers.
Investment Controls
- Ensure meaningful controls are in operation, protecting the integrity of the investment information being reported.
- Proactively assess, recommend, and implement improvements to investment reporting processes and controls.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to focus on the details.
- Strong interpersonal and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- University degree majoring in accounting/business.
- Ability to prioritize projects.
- Knowledge of investment accounting.
Bonus Qualifications:
Working toward CPA designation is an asset.
