International Admissions Representative – Check In


Reporting to the Manager, International Admissions, this position provides operational support and assistance to the International Admissions department. As a primary point of contact for Mohawk students regarding admissions, the incumbent must be able to respond to, investigate and resolve a diverse number of inquiries from students, staff, faculty and other departments.


The incumbent is responsible for reviewing and triaging applications to the Admissions Officers, reviewing changes to application statuses, while maintaining a high attention to detail and established service standards.The incumbent must have knowledge, and be able to manage, multiple student information systems (i.e. Banner, International SIS) and their relevance to various College departments.


Responsibilities


The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:


Application Processing


  • C hecking Banner, International SIS and Cognos reports to ensure that the applicant has been identified correctly as an international student and, in the event of inaccurate data, entering the correct information.
  • Verifying documentation submitted by applicant at various stages during the applicant cycle; completeness of application upon submission, additional documentation required to meet eligibility requirements (transcripts, study permit, guardianship, etc.).
  • R eviewing applications received through the International SISs ensuring details are accurate, requesting clarification where needed and verifying all required education and non-educational documents have been received
  • Processing the applicant’s confirmation of acceptance, notifying applicants of required fees, and inputting the information into the International SIS.
  • Maintaining both hard copy (paper) and computer based applicant files, maintaining database to track applicants, offers extended, denied, etc.


Communications


  • D etailed understanding of all programs offered by Mohawk College, those that are available to international applicants and explaining the requirements and procedures for applying to Mohawk College
  • A cts as a primary contact for the College for international applicant inquiries and provides interpretation and advice on policies as well as promoting the college’s programs


Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


The successful candidate will have:


  • A minimum of two year post-secondary education in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years related work experience with emphasis on verbal and written communication and providing customer service. Applied knowledge/experience of Post-Secondary and ESL programs, as well as College services is required. Banner experience is highly preferred. Credential review training through World Education Service (WES) or Education Credential Evaluations (ECE) would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
