About This Opportunity


Based preferably out of our Calgary site (hybrid- work from home), the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will execute Human Resources activities aligned with the business while ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and best practices. This role will play a critical role in leading and fostering constructive labour relations with key stakeholders and administering the collective agreements. Applicants MUST have work experience in a unionized environment in a Human Resources Advisory capacity.


Responsibilities


  • Champion the performance and talent management processes in the Region including participation in talent reviews and succession planning
  • Support the management of illness or disability of employees related to either an occupational or a non-occupational absence and supporting the business with the development of RTW plans, accommodation, and injury/illness reporting.
  • Drives implementation of Human Resources programs
  • Lead investigations and fact finding on employee and labour relations issues within the region (i.e. harassment, and disciplinary issues etc.);
  • Leads the labour relations agenda within the assigned region including the administration of collective agreements, labour management relationships
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices to influence HR strategies, policies and procedures;
  • Provide advice, coaching and counseling support to local management in the labour relations area (i.e. contract interpretation, discipline, attendance management, grievances), and contribute to the development of leaders' leadership skills;
  • Effectively balance the advocacy of employees with the requirements of the business to ensure decisions are balanced
  • Act as a change agent to support critical business initiatives and support leaders in all elements of effective change management
  • Conducting training for employees and managers as required (i.e. labour relations, attendance management, anti-harassment and discrimination etc.);
  • Ensures best practices are followed by staying current with labour and employment legislation and HR industry developments;


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated ability to invite diverse perspectives, promote an inclusive work environment and support workforce diversity
  • Proven ability to work closely with leaders to support the resolution of employee issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven collaboration skills with the ability to gain consensus through personal influence
  • Travel to out of province locations may be required.
  • MUST HAVE minimum three (3) years progressive experience in labour relations (union) AND human resources
  • Experience supporting multi – location operations with multiple collective agreements
  • Completed a university degree in Business and/or Human Resources
  • Comfort and ability to thrive in a high change, fasted paced environment
  • Customer focused with proven relationship building strengths and solid experience developing workforce plans based on business goals
  • Please note that this role is preferably based in Calgary and is not a Work from home position.
  • HR data analytics experience is an asset
  • Accomplished team-builder, skilled at inspiring, motivating and developing people
