Job Description

Agilus is recruiting for a Human Resources Business Partner in the Oil and Gas Industry. This position will be based out of the Burnaby Regional Office in BC.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business to support the development of engaged high-performing teams
  • Identify and drive the communication and sharing of information and learning across functions to facilitate continuous improvement (i.e., HR, Facilities, IT)
  • Facilitates legal and executive review when required
  • Communicate HR policies, programs, and procedures to ensure Business understanding and commitment
  • Ensure that the general administration and HR implications of change efforts are understood and supported within the Business, and vice versa
  • Understand Base business strategy, operational plans, financials, history, and culture to inform, influence, engage and operationalize HR programs and solutions
  • Provide Human Resources expertise, advice, and support to leaders and employees by providing counsel and direction concerning the interpretation and application of company policies. This could include leading or assisting in various emerging projects that could include research or recommendations while understanding the impact on the business
  • Provide HR advice, services, and process support that comply with appropriate legislation (i.e., Privacy, Human Rights, etc.), other governing documents, as well as confidentiality and organizational values; and
  • Utilize solid business and people acumen and practical experience to dig deeply into issues and develop fit-for-purpose solutions that build culture and drive high-performance
  • Champion and support the implementation of our inclusion, diversity, and equity programs across our organization
  • Build and cultivate positive, trust-based working relationships across the business and with colleagues
  • Coach leaders in employee relations which include career development, performance management, progressive discipline, and termination procedures when appropriate;
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of all programs, policies, systems, and services for the various departments
  • Identify, research, and recommend policy enhancements, requirements, or development to ensure consistency throughout the organization while ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance and legal requirements
  • Influences the design and continuous improvement of HR programs contributing deep understanding of client needs and priorities
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and lead investigations and report writing as required in a practical, expedient, and discreet manner and report back to the Ethics Committee including recommendations to address workplace issues
  • Broker relationship between the business and HR to evaluate and secure specialized resources and services, which include vendors for training, compliance, or recruitment
  • Recommend and influence creative and practical solutions to complex and/or new situations;
  • Provides expertise, guidance, oversight, and implementation, of Human Resources programs, policies, practices, systems, and services for a designated business portfolio
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and identify performance gaps, and emerging trends, and recommend solutions for consideration
  • Counsel and advise leaders concerning workforce planning for both strategic and tactical aspects with the understanding of internal and external market conditions and considerations while monitoring and tracking progress

Qualifications and Professional experience requirements:

  • Proven ability to use metrics and data to support strategic analysis and decision making
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory and legislative requirements, and information affecting the client’s environment;
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge, interpretation, and application of all applicable Human Resource legislation, policies, processes, and practices. I.e., Employment Standards Code, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Human Rights Legislation
  • Highly functional in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PeopleSoft, or HRIS;
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in a complex human resources generalist capacity
  • Proven relationship management, consulting, and teamwork expertise
  • Knowledge of best practices in HR areas such as Employee and Labor Relations, Talent Management and Organizational Development, Compensation and Total Rewards, Wellness and Disability Management
  • Strong project management skills and execution skills to ensure successful delivery/implementation of HR projects, processes, and policies
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset
