Health, Safety and Environment Analyst, Trainer
Our mining client at Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion Project is currently seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Analyst, Trainer for a 6-month contract.
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Analyst, Trainer will provide support to the Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion project to ensure development and implementation of the overall HSE Management Plan to successfully satisfy corporate, regulatory and social responsibilities established for protection of personnel, property, and the environment. This role will also provide support, coordination, and assistance to the Project team and supporting contractors to achieve accountability for HSE management at the construction site.
The Analyst manages and analyses incident and hazard management data using the clients HSE database and acts as a primary point of contact for analytical and performance measurement data on safety, health, security, and emergency management.
This fixed term – 6 month contract position is based at the Voisey’s Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly- out operation. This position is on a two week on, two weeks off rotation. All travel to and from the site will be coordinated by the company NES. Our client’s charter will pick up the employee, at defined locations within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, at no cost. Accommodations and meals will be provided by the company while on the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain HS&E databases to support the sustainability of HSE systems within the
- Communication of information and update of resource materials and tools;
- Information, reports and data;
- Create site wide communications and awareness HSE information as necessary;
- Responsible for timely and accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting for various HSE
- Enhance continuous improvement initiatives;
- Manage the internal accident/incident reporting system and provide support for analysis and
- Conduct data analysis based on key performance indicators and other criteria established to
- Support the HSE management system development and implementation through auditing,
- Interacts with employees and contractors to ensure Unsafe Condition reports are completed with the appropriate information, including recommendations and corrective actions;
- Support the implementation of multiple HSE initiatives by providing support through
- Develop and streamline systems for project HS&E data collection from within Voisey's Bay Mine Expansion Project;
- Tracking of incident related data which supports the requirements of corporate reporting
- Performance reports to different internal as well as external stakeholders;
- Interface with VBME stakeholders and contractors to ensure appropriate collection of HSE
- Provide administrative support for technical writing and document management.
- Support the HSE team in delivering safety orientation and training sessions;
- Functions;
- Support data collection initiatives for company, project and regulatory reporting requirements;

- Measure success of HSE programs;

Essential Skills/Qualifications & Assets:
- Proficient in the use of MS Word and MS PowerPoint;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety analyst role.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, analytical thinking and
- Strong knowledge of data management and analysis software (MS Excel and MS Access);
- Construction/mining industry;
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma program.
- Independent work ethic.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Some knowledge of applicable HSE legislation, and associated HSE data derived from heavy civil
- Experience in a heavy civil construction/mining industry.
- Articulate writer and able to generate reports and other communications;
