Job Description

Job Summary:


As a Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator, you will report to the Director of Safety & Compliance regarding associated job tasks, and are responsible for administering the respective entity's environmental, health and safety programs. and driving improved results. Successful candidates will be responsible for both strategic and tactical elements of the company environmental, health and safety programs as outlined below. This position will require up to 50% travel of your hours worked.


Job Duties:


Continual Improvement:

  • Assist with development of risk mitigation and business continuity plans
  • Refine & maintain regulatory compliance policy and program implementation
  • Collaborate with local management to develop programs to reduce incidents and drive culture of safe behavior


Safety:

  • Maintains liaison outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies. and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance
  • Responsible for coordinating online and/or in-person EHS training. This will include training to both line level employees as well as local leaders
  • Responsible for implementing EHS audits/inspections as well as the requirements for conducting, tracking, and reporting
  • Conduct basic investigations, coordinate with corporate safety team with higher level issues
  • Oversees and drives employee safety compliance from local level
  • Routinely meets with the Director of Safety & Compliance to discuss/review objectives, strategies, and plans associated with safety improvements, issues and results
  • Responsible for communicating records, tracking, and reporting related to local EHS KPIs
  • Chairperson of the local safety committee that will meet monthly to review incidents, near misses, and safety results in order to determine root cause and develop/implement corrective actions


Environmental:

  • Establish and maintain required Environmental recordkeeping and reporting processes
  • Function as point of contact for chemical inventory and waste management processes
  • Maintain compliance in changing regulatory and growing business environment
  • Respond to upset conidiations and advice team members on corrective actions
  • Ensure appropriate disposition of all waste material
  • Collaborate with Operations to maintain the current hazardous waste status
  • Establish and manage waste minimization and emergency response planning
  • Develop and implement Environmental management systems for any applicable plant activates
  • Identify chemical inventory on-site and compare level to regulated action levels
  • Responsible for all facility Environmental permitting/compliance activities
  • Comply with all applicable OHSA, ESA, and other provincial regulatory laws, as well as company safety policies
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director or Safety & Compliance or Senior Leadership Team
  • Implement Environmental policies/programs
  • Train or arrange training for appropriate personnel accordingly
  • Implement required Environmental training programs
  • Develop chemical disposal plan for location(s)


Automotive Program (if applicable):

  • Evaluate prior years' incidents and current trends. Provide action plans for improvement and track to completion
  • Communicate monthly KPIs
  • Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time
  • Identify opportunities and programs to reduce auto-related accidents


Qualifications:

  • Must be able to influence without direct authority
  • BS/BA in a related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years compliance experience, preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills, experience with Microsoft programs and email communication
  • Minimum of 2 years related to role in a manufacturing/construction/chemical environment, preferred
  • Committed to customer satisfaction and ability to adapt/respond to different personalities
  • Must be willing to travel minimally to corporate meetings and regional training
  • Possess ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to successfully work independently or within a team
  • Environmental, Health and Safety Degree, preferred


** This role will require travel to our multiple Manufacturing locations throughout Ontario


Salary- $65,000-$75,000CAD/Annually
