We are a Nova Scotia based safety advising and training company providing support to clients in the industrial and construction sectors throughout Atlantic Canada to meet and exceed the requirements of Provincial and Federal Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
Advisors work with a diverse range of clients in a demanding, fast paced environment and manage their own time in coordination with the needs of the clients.
We are seeking ambitious advisors with a strong working knowledge and practical application of provincial and federal OH&S laws.Practical experience is required in safety program development, hazard identification, developing job procedures, accident investigation, job-site inspections and development and facilitation of training programs.Knowledge of CSA Standards is required.
Candidates must have the physical ability to:

- Lift 25 lbs
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
Duties of the safety advisor may include:
- Advise clients on missing or non-compliant components of their health and safety program
- Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs / seminars for clients
- Provide training to managers and others on occupational safety issues
- Design safety standards to conform to industry standards and federal, provincial and local regulations
- Perform GAP analysis, audits and other evaluations of health and safety programs
- Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the workplace
- Provide direction and / or guidance to less experienced occupational safety personnel
- Coordinate inspections, investigations and occupational safety activities with clients
- Plan, design, develop, implement and evaluate occupational safety programs
- Policy and procedure reviews and creation
- Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures
- Perform job-site compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations
- Ensure the timely completion of accident/injury reporting when requested
- Responsible for monitoring client’s company safety program
- Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs for clients
- Provide advice and recommendations to management and other client groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
- Client follow-ups and consultations
- Develop and implement complex safety programs by inspecting or reviewing areas, equipment, processes and work activities
- Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation
Candidate requirements:
- Strong organizational skills
- Capable of attending training seminars and other skill improvement courses
- Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize
- Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites
- Appear to be well groomed and appropriate attire for all business functions
- Conduct all work activities in a professional and safe manner
- Interested in ongoing safety training
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft 365 applications
- Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
- Work experience as a role in health and safety in Construction, Manufacturing or Food Processing
- Proficient in the Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
- Clean drivers abstract
Candidates must have formal Occupational Health & Safety Training.Preference will be given to candidates Certified as a Health & Safety Consultant and with a Nova Scotia Construction Safety Supervisor (CSS) designation.Current training in the following courses is an asset: First Aid, Fall Protection, WHMIS, Scaffold and Confined Space.
Candidates shall have a reliable vehicle and be willing to operate their vehicle for travel throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Travel expenses shall be paid for by the company.
